Writer/director Paul Weitz claims that he wrote the original draft of the American Dreamz script before he had ever watched an episode of American Idol.
Movie Goof (revealing mistake): Sally's boyfriend and the production staff look through a dressing room keyhole. The keyhole is to a modern tumbler lock, which can't be seen through.
Movie Goof (revealing mistake): The logo on Omer's jacket is backwards (film was reversed) when his cousin decides to become his coach.
