• Movie Goof (continuity error): In the scene where Ian is is controlling the toy helicopter with the chipmunks on it, he suddenly trips and the controller flies out of his hand. While in the air, it suddenly shrinks enough for one of the chipmunks to catch it. Once one of the chipmunks catches it, it is small enough to fit on Ian's fingertip.
• Movie Goof (revealing mistake): The chipmunks ride in the front passenger seat of the car and the seat belt is the kind that goes across the lap, but most front passenger seat belts go across the lap and shoulder.
• The film was shipped in two parts in the UK, first part were odd numbered reels and even reels came the following day. It was shipped under the codename "Hairy Beast 2".
• During the dodgeball scene Alvin says "c'mon Alvin, remember your five Ds. Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge." This is a reference to Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story in witch those are the "Five Ds of Dodgeball". Justin Long, who voices Alvin, also starred in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.
