The story centers on a brilliant crossword constructor (Bullock) who, after one short date, decides that a CNN cameraman (Cooper) is her true love. Because the cameraman's job takes him hither and yon, she crisscrosses the country, turning up at media events as she tries to convince him they are perfect for each other.

Movie Goof (continuity error): When Mary is helping pick up in the parking lot after Steve is on his way to Galviston, the poster she is holding changes position from shot to shot.
Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): When Mary leaves the hospital, a cameraman is filming her walking away. He's holding a 35mm film camera, so he's not a news cameraman.
When Mary is soaking in the tub, the song in the background is sung by Helga Bullock, Sandra's mother.
Movie Goof (errors in geography): There is no (sensible) route from Oklahoma City to Galveston that passes through a desert.
