Movie (2001)

"His love is real. But he is not."

Eleven-year-old David is the first android with human feelings. He is adopted by the Swinton family to test his ability to function. Before they are done testing him though David goes off on his own following his wish to be a human. He is on an odyssey to understand the secret to his existence. A science fiction film from Steven Spielberg taken over from Stanley Kubrick.

Movie Trivia/Goofs

Stanley Kubrick worked on the project for 12 years before his death, but along the way decided to let Steven Spielberg direct, saying it was "closer to his sensibilities". The two collaborated for years, resulting in Kubrick giving Spielberg a complete treatment and lots of conceptual art for the film prior to his death.
Movie Goof (continuity error): When Dr. Hobby removes the CPU from mecha Sheila's forehead, the module is about as big as a walnut. But when he holds the module up to show to his colleagues, it is a cube about the size of a billiard ball.
While this film was based on the Brian Aldiss short story "Supertoys Last All Summer Long," that short story has less influence on the movie than the famous poem by William Butler Yeats, "The Stolen Child." The text of the poem appears in the movie in two places, and certain stanzas take on literal meaning as well (e.g. "Till the moon has taken flight")
Movie Goof (continuity error): When David approaches Monica's bed to cut off a strand of her hair, she is first lying her face turned away from him. In the next shot, she is lying face towards him.
