- Movie Goof (continuity error): The headrests in Cliff and Cydney's Jeep are missing during interior shots then reappear during long exterior shots. Removing headrests from seats has been a common practice in movies for decades in order to provide more visibility while filming inside automobiles. This can usually be spotted by the two mounting holes at the top of the seat which are visible once the headrests have been removed.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): In the flashback scene on the ferry, Cliff (Steve Zahn) takes a tape out of the video camera and throws it in the water. Seconds later, Cydney (Milla Jovovich) approaches him and he hands the camera to someone to make a shot of them.
- Director David Twohy has been quoted in recent interviews as saying he had to battle with the studio to allow the movie to continue on with an R-rating instead of a PG-13 version.
- In addition to working together on this film, Milla Jovovich and Timothy Olyphant have both worked on films that were adaptations of video games.
