  • An early draft of the script had narration.
  • If you consider the relative positions of Bowman when he first arrives in the suite, when he is next standing in the room, when he is in the bathroom, when he is at the table, and when he is in the bed, these points form a star.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When Dr. Floyd travels to Tycho the speed that the shuttle makes is not continuous. In the shots inside from the cockpit shuttle appears to move real slow whereas outside shots show lot faster speed.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): On the space station, right after Dr. Floyd clears security, and before he meets the Russians, he and another man are strolling along the curved floor of the station. Their bodies' orientation should be radial to the curvature of the floor, appearing to lean forward in the frame, but instead they are perpendicular to the orientation of the frame: they are walking downhill rather that walking along the bottom of the curved floor.
