The Vampire Diaries is a new vampire drama on The CW.

It premiers on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 8 p.m.


The plot revolves around Elena Gilbert, a tragic young heroine who is the object of passion for two vampire brothers—one good, one evil—who are at war for her soul and for the souls of her friends, family and all the residents of the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia.

Just watched the premier... Not bad - but it is a bit teenish for sure.

I watched it and it was kind of weak for a vampire show. I don't know what was goofier the weird eye thing or the ring that allows him to walk around in the sun. The show is kinda like a cross between Popular and Angel.

I didn't like Ian Somerhalder's character. He's just not believable enough.

So's ... I watched it and agree with zandarblade: "kind of weak for a vampire show."

very weak but as usual I will give a few episodes to solidify into a slick show if not oh well another loser

I'm not sure what their market is suppose to be, but my 9 yr old daughter loved it! LOL

i am just gonna say "avoid this show".

I liked the show but it doesn't appear to be following the plot of the books at all...her 'brother' is supposed to be a 4 year old girl, and Elena is supposed to be the queen B of the school who decides to get Stefan because he's the only person who doesn't notice her and stare in wonder... The rings are explained better in the book too. Oh and also the Salvatore family aren't the founders of the town, Stefan is just there by chance. Trying to 'settle down' and 'blend in'

I appreciate that it's just 'based' on the books and not a book to screen transformation I just think they've changed it for no reason other than to be like Twilight (which I also love, though). Elena is seen as shy and quiet like Bella and the actor playing Stefan talks a lot like Robert Pattinson does in the films. Oh, and what was with that stupid fog???

Rant over. Despite all that I did still enjoy it - who knows why!

I watched an episode and didn't care for it. I could see how it would appeal to a 9 yr old. But then again, I didn't like Twilight either. I did however, like True Blood.

I thought it was okay. I think it has been getting better and more intriguing - but yeah, true blood it ain't
