I watch it on Sci-Fi channel. Due to the fact that I don't get BBC One. For Sci-Fi channel it premiered Series 4 episode 1 last night(Friday 18 April 2008).

I thought it was a very good episode, but he really needs a sidekick to keep him in line. Preferably a hot female.

The longer this season goes on the more detailed my plan to wipe Catherine Tates very existence from this Earth.

Bitch is ruining the show and RTD is pandering to it, I'm almost completely convinced he is trying to ruin the franchise before he leaves.

At the end of this season there isn't another true season until 2010, there will be a few specials next year and it has widely been said that one of those will hand over to a new doc.

Catherine Tate is definetely not the side kick type...she can't even act let alone run as a side kick. It was ^**# amusing the way they were 'Supposed' to be thrown around inside the Tardis at the start of the show. My 7 year old grandson acts better than that when he wants his way. I wonder How much SHE had to pay to get the part? Better gone and carry on. Maybe Martha can sort her out.

Maybe they will kill her off to save Rose. Now that would be good, but it appears as if we are stuck with her for the time being. The red head is so bad she makes the early William Shatner work look good.

Well this weeks was the best of the season by quite some way.

Every time Donna says I'm going I get my hopes up but then the bitch just won't leave.

It runs around 6 UK time so if you are in eastern time you should be able to download it from the box or bittv by 1/2 2 in not sooner I usually watch it sat night est or in about 10 mins after download starts if I am doing nothing. I prefer to watch it 8 though makes don,t know it just feels right at that time lol

oh please don't bring Rose back - she is worse than Catherine Tate. Ms. Tate is allegedly a comedian and has her own show in the UK and on pay tv in Austalia. Not one bit funny. Dr Who series four is now screening in the UK and episode five comes this Saturday their time. Dr Who Confidential, the behind the scenes look at episode by episode screens right after it so it's up to series four episode five this Saturday, too. As for the new Dr Who? According to David Tennant, it's still him but....;-)

A better question if you take in the original Doctor Who would be how many Daughter's are out there? Also who the mothers are.

They couldn't really do a spin-off with her as it would be too similar, only real difference would be the lack of a TARDIS.

Her character will either be involved in the end of season storyline or come back for the specials next year.

But, why didn't she get a new body if she's a Time Lord? The Doctor gets a new body . . . (and, yes, I know "why", but cannon says that when a Time Lord regenerates they come back in a new body).

I wouldn't think Jenny could travel through time; I thought the TARDIS did that.

I think she'll have to end up being Bad because the Doctor can't have a sidekick who's his daughter. And, if there are only two Time Lords left in the Universes they'd want to be together (look at what he was willing to do to keep the Master around).

She'll be back the end of this season or the next. Didn't I hear that Ten was going to regenerate at the end of next season (five)? Maybe it'll be Jenny who comes back to kill him.

Tennant isn't going to be in Next season yet, it's looking like he will regenerate during either at the end of this, or during one of the specials next year.

His daughter looked allot like Rose to me. BTW, we kept seeing her in the past few episodes, what do you think that's about? And who put that Tera forming device there? Weird stuff, can't wait for the next one!

They brought the Terra-forming device with them, it was a colony ship. And the Rose story arc is the big one of this season, it' fairly obvious that rose has found a way to cross the dimensional rift and is trying to get in touch with the doctor.

@joker - I love Doctor Who, but it's not the Best TV out there. It's enjoyable, but, really, no one watches DW for the continuity. The best this about this week's ep was the DW Confidential that went over all the times The Doctor has mentioned having children.

Who is she? hope she stays...

The show and story line were really good but we just have to get rid of that stupid companion Donna Nobel. I think if I see that stupid look on her face ( like where am I? ) again I am goning to scream. It was especially bad when she was looking over the Dr's shoulder when he was talking on the TV to that little girl!!! To put it in plain English...she looked like a twit!

It's no coincidence that every single episode there is a bit where she either says she is leaving or they give the impression she is being replaced. They know we all hate her which is a pity as the character of Donna Noble is decent enough it's just the retarded bint playing her that's at issue.

I've lost track of the number of regenerations.

I comment because I feel sure that when the show first started many moons ago they said within the dialogue of the show that there was a limited number of times regeneration could happen to him and that number must be getting close or even gone by.
(think it was 9 times)

The Doctors in the Television series have been played by:- William Hartnell; Patrick Troughton, Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee, Peter Davison,Colin Baker,Syvester McCoy, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant (9 incarnations so far)
This does not include those who only appeared in the Movies (Paul McGann(TV) and Christopher Plummer(Theatre)) Nor the single appearance of Richard Hurndall (25 Nov.1983) which I dare to say was an incarnation.

It was stated in The Deadly Assassin (1976) that a Time Lord can regenerate twelve times before permanently dying - a total of thirteen incarnations. This may be a contradiction.

As I have yet to find the early episode where Patrick Troughton explains to his assistant about his regeneration from William Hartnell and the number of times thereof which I still remember as 9.

@Quark Richard Hurndall replaced the then deceased William Hartnell for that role of the first doctor in the Five Doctors(1983) as you mentioned,so is not counted as a seperate Doc.
Paul McGanns Doc has to be considered as the 8th Doc of the series also because it featured the transformation from the Sylvester McCoy Doc.
Hope I'm not being too nitpicky when I point out that Jon Pertwee should precede Tom Baker in your above list(Which you undoubtedly knew)

Billie piper is all tied up with Secrets of a Call Girl so they can't bring rose back as a permenant charachter. Guest apperances yes.

Right from Day one when I saw DN in the runaway bride episode, I thought what a cheap tart. She was a dominering bully who didn't and still doesn't know how to act. The only reason that she is starting to grow on capt is because he hasn't moved for a month and she is like mold. She ruins the episodes that she is in for more than 5 minutes. Episode 10 Midnight wasn't too bad cause she was only there for four and a half minutes. They really need to shake it up and get rid of her.

I agree with blkhole on this. DN needs to go. Maybe repace her with his daughter. Now that would be something to watch.

I've been curious lately and downloaded this last episode 4x11.
Wasn't too impressed.And that's a shame,I really liked the old series,the Tom Baker years.

that was the best one by leaps and bounds in the Tom Baker years the doctor had a chance to wipe out the daleks before it began but his code of ethics didnt let him it was Brilliant to make the other 1/2 human he had no problem kinda shows what we should be and where we are at Doctor Donna now that was a surprise but well done and it lets her off as his companion for the next series, it also guarantees the return of the SJS adventures which is another good thing

I heard Russell T is head writer of the specials only next year but that Stephen Moffatt will be the new head writer of the next series. If that's true, at least the shows are both in good hands. Moffatt writes well. That also tells me there's more than just specials in 2009 so here's hoping that article was true. It was on the official Doctor Who site but then, you know how good they are at throwing curve balls, too :-) Secrets, they shouldn't be allowed ha ha.

Why don't people like Russell T Davies? If you look back at some of his episodes you will see that he is responcible for a lot of the better run story lines and I am glad he has been kept to do Torchwood.

He does come up with good ideas, he just never finishes them and he really cannot write dialog at all.

Much respect to him for bringing Dr.Who back but thank fuck he is gone.

My problem, aside from liking Donna and not Rose and hoping they bring back Martha more than anything, was I think it was an awful way to end it for Donna. This article says that several Hollywood names have been approached but have turned down the offer to play a major villain linking the 2 telemovies. At the end of the 2009 Christmas special David Tennant's 10th Doctor catches a cold and it causes a temporary regeneration. He turns into... a woman!

Donna and Martha are not in season 9 as Martha will be full time on Torchwood, along with Mickey, and Donna loses her memory.

It's still rumoured that Jennifer Saunders appears as a temporary Doctor either in the Christmas Special or the Children in Need special. Remember what happened in the first Christmas special when the Doctor lost his hand? Well, other things can happen in that period!

David will continue playing the Doctor for most of the 2010 season to a) beat Jon Pertwee's record, b) because he loves it and c) what's the point in reducing season 5 if he's planning to leave? Robert Carlyle/James Nesbitt or someone else close to Moffat may appear as the 11th Doctor at the end of the seaon. NB: In February 2008 the BBC confirmed Season 5 for 2010

Her special appearance in this past season did seem strained. I like Rose. It was almost as though she did not want be there and it was all she could do to say her lines. I do think they closed her storyline and she will probably be no more.

It could very easily be Alex Kingston from "Silence in the library" since that whole story arc has to happen before Tennant regenerates.

I'm just happy that in the US of A, we get Dr Who only a few weeks behind the UK. I still wish they'd stop breaking up the season - having a few episodes for a month then NOTHING for a couple of months, then a few more trickle over. I also wish they'd play some of the OLD Doctor Who episodes in the meantime. At one time, there was ALWAYS some channel playing the old Doctor Who's.

You know this is all the Beebs fault. You can't expect an actor to hang around for a year or two just to do four or five shows. If they had got their act together and produced some good episodes like the season three episodes we would still have a healthy rating and Dr. If the things not broken don't fix it. Fiddling around with scripts and writers has never made a good episode yet. Now who would make a good Dr? How about Rowan Atkinson or YES John Cleese!!!

Matt Smith is the New & Youngest Doctor ever at just 26, he was great in ruby in the smoke but it doesn't seem to fit as a doctor. I think he got the role more because of his ties to Billie Piper.

I have no idea who he is but I have a feeling he's going to be great. When I first started watching the new Doctor Who I knew absolutely nothing about the show and when I first saw DT I thought he wouldn't be good and thought he looked weird but now I think he's a much better doctor than the previous guy.

you gotta be kidding were so many great actors to take over as the doctor including James Nesbitt and they picked this kid who looks like he is 13 how is this gonna work he is way too young I believe they are trying to get an even younger demographic my guess is he lasts a season and then goes to a more mature established actor. Well I have watched a few things the new DR.WHO has been in and his preformances have been quite good. Think he will bring even more life to the part. Of course only time will tell how good he is.

Former Bionic Woman star Michelle Ryan and comedian Lee Evans have been cast in the next Doctor Who special, Planet of the Dead.

Ryan will play Lady Christina de Souza, who will join the Doctor on a bus trip that takes 'a very unexpected detour into danger', according to the BBC press release. Executive producer and co-writer Russell T Davies noted that 'Lady Christina is a woman with a mysterious past who's going to have a huge impact on the Doctor'

Lee Evans will play Malcolm, whose life becomes connected to the Doctor's under extraordinary circumstances.

Planet of the Dead is set to air at Easter

Acclaimed actress, Lindsay Duncan will guest star in the second Doctor Who Special of 2009 on BBC One.

Lindsay is best known for her roles across stage and screen, including Shooting The Past and GBH and is soon to star as Margaret Thatcher in the highly anticipated BBC Two drama, Margaret.

In Doctor Who she will play Adelaide – the Doctor's cleverest and most strong-minded companion yet.

Lindsay commented: "I'm thrilled to be involved in Doctor Who. I've never done anything like this before and I'm really looking forward to working with David Tennant and the Doctor Who team."

Lindsay joins David Tennant as he continues his role as The Doctor in the second instalment of the four Doctor Who Specials to be screened throughout 2009, which will follow Planet Of The Dead, due to air this Easter on BBC One.

1. Yes, the Doctor has been a father before. 1st Doctor Who episode ever starred the Doctor and his granddaughter, Susan. When she left her grandfather, she stayed on Earth.

2. Sylvester McCoy's Doctor had a line in Season 26: "I'm part Human, on my mother's side".

Makes you wonder. Did Susan have children? Could the Doctor be his own ancestor?

@schalti, It all depends on the quality of the scripts & the overall production.Many would class the Sarah Jane Adventures as too juvenile but it still has a good following.

Well I enjoyed this episode & Michelle Ryan gave a good audition to partner the next Doctor I thought.

Michelle Ryan would make a good assistant, and she does need to rebuild her career somewhat after the clusterfuck that was Bionic Woman. She really shouldn't have gone up against Katee Sackhoff it just made her look amateur hour.

I'll give it 8 out of 10 for FX
6 out of 10 for acting mainly because of the stupid unit commander!!!
and a dismal 3 out of 10 for the crappie story line, not up to any of last seasons episodes AT ALL!

Any one got any other information on the S04-Special Tonight's The Night Minisode thats due to air in three days.

The BBC has announced that Scottish actress Karen Gillan is to play the new companion, alongside Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith, in the next series of Doctor Who, due to be broadcast in the spring of next year.

Twenty-one year-old Gillan previously appeared in last year's episode "The Fires of Pompeii", as the Soothsayer. BBC News reports that she studied acting at Telford College in Edinburgh, and has also appeared in The Kevin Bishop Show and the forthcoming film Outcast, starring James Nesbitt.

In a turnabout from a previous arrangement, BBC America now has first US broadcast rights for the soon-to-be-aired hour-long specials of Doctor Who, Variety reported today.

The Next Doctor, the show's 2008 Christmas episode, will make its US debut at 9:00 p.m. on June 27, followed by Planet of the Dead in July (date TBA). Specific US air dates will be determined for the subsequent specials after they've aired in the UK.

BBC America has announced that their new BBC America HD channel will launch in July with the HD broadcast of Torchwood: Children of Earth and the latest Doctor Who special, Planet of the Dead. Torchwood: Children of Earth will air on BBC America HD and BBC America on five consecutive nights, beginning on Monday, July 20. Planet of the Dead will follow on Sunday, July 26. (As previously announced, the 2008 Christmas special, The Next Doctor, will air on BBC America on Saturday, June 27.)

It is not known whether earlier plans for "Children of Earth" to be aired on the same day on BBC America and BBC One are still on track. British television channels traditionally announce their schedules closer to broadcast date than American channels do, so the UK broadcast date for "Children of Earth" will probably not be confirmed for several weeks.

This year's Doctor Who Children In Need special will reportedly bring together all 11 Doctors for the first time in the show's history.

The 15-minute episode, to be screened in November, will include the first appearance by brand new Doctor Matt Smith, reports the Daily Mirror.

The first three Doctors, played by deceased actors William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee, will appear thanks to the use of footage from the BBC's archives.

A Doctor Who source told the paper: "This is a momentous episode for all Doctor Who fans. Never before have all the Doctors been in the same room, let alone in the same show.

"It's been a logistical nightmare getting all the actors together and available for shooting on the same days."

The script will see current Doctor David Tennant enlisting the help of his previous incarnations as he attempts to hunt down a piece of time travel apparatus.

Although this episode will feature all the Doctors for the first time, it won't be first occasion when more than one Doctor has appeared together on screen.

Two years ago, Peter Davidson appeared alongside David Tennant in a special mini-episode called Time Crash and 1993 special Dimensions In Time saw Doctors three to seven turn up in Albert Square. Meanwhile, back in 1983 The Five Doctors featured Doctors one to five, however, William Hartnell was replaced by Richard Hurndall.

That's going to be somewhat of a problem as I think two of them are dead!!

Well, there was some music in there I was looking to find out more about. After further research and listening to Voodoo Child, I remember that one, but that was the one played during the invasion of Earth. However, it helped me to finally figure out how to word my search and found a list of all songs featured on Doctor Who, which listed the song "I Can't Decide" by the Scissor Sisters, which was played by the Master as he enters the bridge of the Valiant. He refers to it as "Track 3", its place on the album Ta-Dah.

No, The youngest was in his late 60's and the oldest thought I was there to serve him his afternoon tea and not fix his "stupid box thing ( old IBM PS2 computer)".

The new Sarah Jane adventures haven't started yet so we have that to look forward too.

Good story line and good acting It's a shame David is leaving
he is the ideal Dr. Xmas looks good.

RTD wrote a terrible script once again but it still turned out very fun and the last ten minutes were great.
