Jericho

The concept sounded pretty cool, an isolated town that survided a nuclear cataclysm that destroyed the whole U.S.

Unfortunately, the show seems to me quite dull. Only watched the first couple of episodes, but I think it lacks some thrill.

And the cliché of the dude who returns to the little town after disappearing for some years, and immediatly becomes the hero saving everybody and still has time to flirt with the pretty girl... :/

Does the show get better in the following episodes, or shouldn't I even bother wasting my precious bandwith with it?

And in case anyone was confused, SingleW4 doesn't speak for anyone but himself and apparently knows nothing about "typical" American so when he says that typical Americans think this way or act that way, know that he is full of poopoo and just expressing an opinion and we all know about those....

@NIP: now that the series is "over" I would like to know if anyone has checked out any of the "webisodes" or whatever they are/were. Also the fanfiction...normally I would not waste my time with such stuff because while the folks who do it mean well, uhm how do I say it...well, lets say Arthur C Clarke has nothing to worry about. Well ATM I am *certain* he has nothing to worry about but you get my drift. On the other hand, recently a friend recommended to me some fan written fiction from FireFly called "My Kind Of Freedom". He said it was good so I downloaded the file (free) and it really was quite excellent. Now in this case as it turns out the "fan" who wrote it was a published scifi author himself and it shows. That he loved the characters, all of them was evident in his words.

The point is (sorry) that some of this *can* be good so maybe lightning strikes twice and so...there were supposed to be both fan fiction written for Jericho as well as some kind of "webisodes" or something, maybe done by the producers/actors themselves..anyone tried this? Good/Bad?

@whiplash and nakara,

The character Jake relates a story and a flashback about killing a girl and I thought most viewers would look on that with disgust. You disagree.

Also just a point of logic. No one speaks for anyone. It is a given that I express my opinion. Good night nurse.

Well I think there is an element of shock for everyone. Disgust may be a bit strong, he was on a job doing his job..it was only after the fact that he realizes he was working on the wrong side. He has shown a far amount of remorse. Does it make it right? NO! War is not rainbows and butterflies...things happen that only those that have been thru it can possible understand. I think the writers were trying to show that side of what a person carries away with them when put in that situation.

@nakara: I learned what I know from the extras on the DVDs. I will look around and ask some friends in LA who always seem to know what is going on. The only catch there is it only works for shows they like, otherwise, they don't care...

Report: Netflix considering bringing back Jericho

Speaking of shows returning, could "Jericho" be brought back from the dead yet again? According to TVGuide, Netflix has approached CBS about reviving the short-lived drama which went off the air in 2008:

Repeats of Jericho remain popular on Netflix’s on-demand service, even four years after the show’s cancellation. Insiders say Netflix execs would love to emulate the revival of Fox’s Arrested Development, which is expected to return on Netflix with new episodes in 2013, seven years after the show ended its run.

Talks are still in preliminary stages, and insiders warn that it’s too soon to celebrate, as there are still many hurdles to overcome before a deal is struck. Making it financially viable for both Netflix and CBS may be the biggest challenge of them all.

Interestingly, TV Guide notes that CBS boss Leslie Moonves may have hinted at a return back in February when while at an investor conference revealed the network was in discussions with Netflix about possibly doing a show together…now it’s believed he was in fact referring to "Jericho".

That would be fantastic! I can't believe it's been 4 years since it was axed though.

I agree. I'd be first in line to see the new episodes if Jericho were to come back. The show will always be one of my all-time favorites. I wonder if they could bring back all the same cast and writers though. The last thing I'd want to see is a butchered version of the show.

Is There Still Hope For “Jericho”?

It’s been a while since we heard much about the reported return of Jericho, but that doesn’t mean hopes for a revival have dwindled.
Series creator Stephen Chbosky tells fans that hopes for the show coming back aren’t quite dead yet. It was reported a while back that producers were talking to Netflix about reviving the series. Then, we didn’t hear much for a while.
Chbosky was at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) and asked about the show’s prospects. The series has continued in comic books and he says that’s laid solid groundwork for a potential third season of the show.
“You know WME (William Morris Endeavor) Agency, who represents me, Jon Turteltaub and many other people, and they’ve been talking to Netflix and you never know. I can’t say what it will be in season three, but I’m excited for the new developments… Well, if you really, really want to know about season three, the best thing would be to read the comics. That tells a better story,” he says.
