Due to countless problems caused by the public viewing of messages Guest Books have now become private.

if anyone tried sending a message in the last half hour you may have received this error:

ERROR: Unable to add message to database

there was a bug in parsing certain characters, now fixed.

This is a great improvement.

I never always signed in when I was on site,but I knew if there were any messages in my GB because it was always open,now I can't without signing in,Is it possible to have an inbox or unread messages visible to all,I prefer quickly browsing the site & knowing if there are messages to reply to without always signing in.

It is sooo sad...

From now on, I will not have the opportunity to see if I have message and I will be isolated during the day or traveling because the site's system don't recognize the internet explore for smartphone and don't let me sign in the site thru my cellphone.

The lousy attitute of a few will change the rotine of everyone! :(

Before I became a member of this site I only knew private messages (PM) and always missed it in this site but after I became I member of this family I discover how much was fun to have a opportunity to have side talks and plays with friends in ours guestbooks (GB). It was one of the highlights of my day during the work hours. I could be in a reception area, waiting a client or traveling but I could read my friends side talks in my GB or theirs. It was commom, we leave messages for a friend in a GB of another friend. It was fun!

I know the first objetive of this site in to be informative and that the forum's part and the GBs are only visited for a few members but I can assegure you all, these are the part of the site that made ShareTv so unique, diferent from site as BuddyTV or Tv.com. There are informations over there and forums too but they are without soul, if you know I mean.

I hope will can find another solution like a chat area in the personal page of each member that can only be frequented by the member list of personal friends.

i agree i will also really miss the gossip and chat.

I agree it is sad that the actions of a few malcontents have pushed this change to the top of the priorities list.
However Admin was left with no choice.

But I also recall some months ago almost all were clamouring for Private Messaging.

You can please some of the people some... well you know the rest.

If its not too much trouble I do like Luacheias idea that only you and your friends can view your messages. If abused you just take them off your friends list.

And it would make you think twice before making some one your friend. Then friendship could really mean something and have a tangible benefit that of being trusted enough to read anothers messages. Who do you trust to have in your home and if you are not there allow to read your mail only your friends.

@quark I understood that the pm would similar to msn only on this server where you could add friends and talk in real time but no worries mate chyt happens just it is too bad

i will miss the communal chatting we were able to do in gb's , appara left a joke for luacheia, i added a comment to it, and had been looking forward to appara's reaction when she came across it (far funnier in my opinion than just posting 'did you mean me as well' in appara's own GB)
There is a group of us that 'meet up' through our posts in each others GB's , that was one of my favourite things on here. It's a shame that the actions of a few have ruined one of the friendliest aspects of this site

@Quark i assumed that pm would have been in addition to the gb's rather than instead of them

we could implement the friend request system as planned then add an option on the Edit Profile page to make messages public to friends. would that work for all?

That sounds like an excellent solution to me, giving friends access to view your entire guest book, yet others may still post - so it remains effective to communicate with all (and goof around privately with some).
