When I first come into the forum there may be 20 threads that have had a new entry since my last visit. Only 10 or so are of any interest to me at all, the others are threads on shows that I just don't watch and have no interest at all in watching. A 'mark all as read' option would be great, and save me opening and closing all these threads just so they will show as read. (Yes I know I am pedantic..sigh) Anyone else do the same? |

When you say 'show as read' do you mean the way Internet Explorer and other web browsers will change the color of the text in a link? I mean, I think it's a browser function and not a site function. Now that's not to say It's not a good idea to have a 'Mark as Read' Function, but I have not noticed any sort of mark or way to identify if a thread has any new posts since my last visit, other than the few that come up as the Recently Active. So, yes, we need both functions eventually I think. |

RE Browser Function, I meant to say that your browser will change the color of the text in a link that you have already clicked on. |

Really? they don't change colour for you once you have opened them? For me in both firefox and internet explorer an unread thread's text is blue and turns green once it has been opened. What I am wanting is some way that after I have read all the threads in which I am interested, I can click to 'mark all as read'. |

Maybe a nice flaming red for read. Agree with you by the way. Would have to be linked to each member so that regular colors would still apply for those who have not read it. Of course you realise that if something was added to one of those treads then marked as read would have to be removed so you could check it. HMMMM guess what we already have works pretty much that way. Maybe best to stick to what we already have. |

Slow down On your profile is an item called 'my posts' there you will find all threads you have contributed to. Those with new posting(s) are highlighted in blue. When you have opened them they revert to standard green, and show latest at the top. Then when you have read those all you need to do is go to Forums (all threads) for new threads and to see if any thread you fancy reading is highlighted for entries since you last read it. Note the unrelated chat room still needs to be accessed by itself. I use this method when Moderating. It is the fastest way to check all unread (in my case), but I could as easily as you can skip those I/you have no interest in. Hope this answers your need. |

@joker You are confusing me, I have no idea what you are talking about with colours and having to remove so you can check it? What I am wanting is something similar to what is available in email clients to 'mark all as read' It would have no effect on anyone else but me and whether people used it or not would be entirely up to them. @quark Lots of threads I enjoy reading are ones that I haven't posted in recently so don't think your method would be too much use to me at all, unless I am missing something. |

It does not matter how long ago you posted. If you posted in it the thread will stay in 'my posts' forever, unless deleted by a Mod or admin |
