As soon as Chris finishes coordinating the back-end tv show databases, the cast lists for all the new shows will be brought in...

Is that what is missing? I thought you just added characters and uploaded images to go with them. So Da King has to add each individual character manually? Wow.

Sounds like a lot of work and if he is already overworked, can some of us enthusiastic folks with no life help? Type lists, create html w/images, whatever? Anything that would help. Can't say I would do them all but I promise I can do a first-class job on the ones I am interested in. Possibly if others see it helping they might in turn do the same for their faves.

You see, the situation/motivation is this. Many if not all of us have a lot of favorite shows in common like house, heroes, etc. But there is an equal number of other shows that are either regional, old, or just plain got lost in the shuffle of new shows when they came out and got missed. For whatever the reason, I have been trying to take some of these out-lier shows and spiff them up to draw some interest to them. Unfortunately, even with 1000 points I can only add a show image, summary and review. While it should never approach anything like advertising, I would like to find some way to promote these lesser-known yet still quality shows to others. I know I have learned of many new shows from here but it was always a matter of being in the right part of the right thread at the right time. And I know others are looking for new stuff too as evidenced by the sheer number of threads started asking for suggestions.

So it is my wish to help some of my personal favorites that may not otherwise have an advocate put their best foot forward.

Would that we could. But it doesn't work that way.
If you google any show then find the IMDB entry for it.
You will see a cast list. It's that which is picked up for each show by your Mods/Admin and then the system creates the silhouettes etc.,
It is this function amongst others that is prevented from being able to be done whilst Admin is working through the 'back-end' and until the overhaul is done cannot be implemented. Sorry.
Don't blame Admin it's the stupid legalities he has to contend with as well as writing the software.

Okay, when the site was started, the casts lists were brought in automatically, using imdb.com, and TV show listing information came from TVRage.com (if I have that wrong, please correct me). There are over 18,000 shows in the database, so obviously, not all the cast lists for those were brought in - so, mods were given the capability to add cast lists by request...

Currently, Chris is working on better coordinating multiple databases to produce a more reliable result for cast lists (that's the "back-end" work).

In the meantime, new cast lists are NOT being brought in either automatically or manually...

I know it's been a while, and some of our favorite new shows have gone the whole season without characters listed, but this is a priority on Chris' to-do list...

Thanks for all the work you do that we novices have no idea you do. Lots of background stuff that all sounds too complicated for me but thanks for doing it all for us :-)
