It would be good if a spell checker and/or dictionary could be incorporated into the site. This request really goes hand-in-hand with the ability to edit ourh own comments after posting.

@mekon

I agree with this suggestion, as occasionally I misspell words and mistype them as well. I sometimes post before I read what I have written.

Nagila mekon,
If you use Firefox browser,you would have the ability to do so.The browser has an search engines bar where you can have many,I have the wikipedia,Webster dictionary,and several more.You can also enable a spell check tool.
One of my favorite plug-ins is the torrent bar.All you do is type in the torrent you are looking for and pick from a list of P2P engines,and the leg work is done for you.Think about switching.IE7 is slow and obsolete in comparison.

I'm actually happy with the "IE7 Pro" add-on that gives me a spell checker (as I type) as well as additional ad-blocker settings. So, I recommend it for those who use Internet Explorer...

@mekon

I am not sure how difficult it would be to place a spell checker for the comment box!

@NIP

I suppose the dictionary (if we get one) would need to be updated daily with every new user name. Otherwise every @ would be challenged.

I believe there are enough options for browser-based spell checkers out there that allow one to utilize spell checking capabilities, regardless of the website chat / forum you are participating in...

So, I think the spell check situation has a "DIY" (do-it-yourself) solution.... If you have Internet Explorer, just Google "IE7 Pro" to learn more about that add-on.

Of course, we all want to edit our posts... All in good time, I suppose...

Thank you for the suggestion. I will check out the spell check add-on.

Mozilla Firefox has a spell checker included. For all those who use Mozilla:
- You go to Tools
- select Options
- select Advanced in the window that pops up
- mark "Check my spelling as I type"
Done

(Just for precaution - if my spelling is incorrect, it is because I disabled that option - it alway marked my german e-mails... ^^)

I had a weird problem with spell checker integrated in IE7 and Google bar. The two of them interfered with the keyboard language.
It was a nightmare until I did discover the problem.

Unhappily, I came to conclusion that I can not use these plug in. :-(

What I am doing is to write the text in other text editor, using the spell checker and just after this, I transfer to the text box of the site. Very tiring!
:-( :-(

You really should try Mozilla Firefox luacheia as has been previously suggested. Its a very quick simple download and install and a huge improvement on IE imho.

@paddedbag,

My problem id the langlage of my keyboard.
This is not universal, It is ABNT II (Brasilin Assossiation of Norma tipo II).
it is made to atend the necessited of acentuation and of caracteres as *ç*, *ã*, *â*, *õ*, *ô*, *ó*, *ü*, for example.

I have an Add-On installed on my Firefox that works just the MS word spell check in that it underlined misspelled words in red as you type and if you right click the underlined word it shows a list of suggested words/corrections, it also gives you the option to add words to it's dictionary, like your name if it's uncommon or whatever.

I had to ditch Firefox because my ability to post comments to site was lost. When I changed to IE the fault vanished. Obviously a software clash on my PC but the only way I could resolve it was to migrate to IE.

I've tried writing my comments in MS Word but when I paste into site some punctuation is displayed as ASCII.

I will try kolbinfo's suggestion and download IE7 PRO and hope that I don't have luacheia's problems.
