I don't know if this is a feasible suggestion or too complicated to acheive.
I find that after initial log-in etc., I rarely go back to profile page, except if I realise later that I have a message to send.
Would it be possible when a message is posted on one's profile for an audible of some sort to sound unless logged off of course.
and
arising is there any way one can tell if a particular member is logged in and therefore may read the message soon.

Not to nitpick but that ONLY says who is in the forum.
Not those who are logged in nor who have left messages specifically.
Or am I not getting your point?

Wow, you guys are really butting heads here...

I think...
Mustaphaleak is pointing out that those online, but NOT viewing the forum - say, they're looking at show pages - may not be identified as "online."

I think this is a question for Chris to clarify...

My previous post assumes that Mustaphaleak is aware of the email option for forum posts, but is asking about the possibility of an immediate audible indicator for new messages posted to one's profile page...

And, I just double-checked by opening up sharetv in an additional explorer page (so I have two open, one where I'm logged in but not on the forum and one where I'm viewing the forum but not logged in) and my name does not appear for others viewing the forum, because I'm on a different part of the site...

As for the notification:
Others have requested an IM feature... I think that could incorporate both notification for posts to the forum as well as posts to a profile page...

Chris continues to add great features (based on our suggestions) and the site is getting better and better!
