Have found a patch that is easier to install than the Event 4426 patch and it works with windowsXP SP1,SP2 and SP3,also Vista and the beta Windows 7(the new name for Vista)called the windows half-open patch.Check it out at half-open.com

First observations:
It was easy,extracted the file,ran it,set the value and clicked the button,restart.Now that wasn't hard.I set my value to 100 half-open.First thing I noticed was that web pages loaded faster,instantly.I've got four torrents d/ling and seven uploading at top speed,no lag.Surfing the web and listening to internet radio,no lag.You will have to repatch your TCP when windows updates,but it's so easy,click the button and restart.There is a feature to set back to windows default if you need to,just click the button,it's that easy.It's crazy.lol

Why would you need a patch which could be doing anything to your system when all you need to do is change one key in the registry.

Well if you know so much about it,why don't you share how to do it.If there is anything going on in my system,I know it.I wouldn't want to share that with novices who might make a mistake and screw their system.I'll let you do that.And if you wish to throw a negative spin on this you should explain what you mean by"could be doing anything to your system".Thousands have been using it without negative fx.

Is this patch necessary even after forwarding?

If you wish to make more connections in the TCP protocol which is essential for optimizing download speeds,gaming and web surfing.Windows XP is set at 10 half-open by default,the patch hacks the TCP/IP protocol allowing you to set a higher value.Say you are downloading and surfing the web,with only 10 half-open you can only make a max of 10 connection,but your apps.are trying to make 50 half-open connection,what happens is that these extra connection get put into a queue,stacking up and slowing down your web and downloading experience.Please follow the link for a more thorough explanation.

I tried and don't know how it works.

i have 20mb download internet and i tried fixing this before because frankly whats the point in fast internet if microsoft is stopping you using it, but yeah i noticed right away this patch works because my firefox was flying instead of getting slow the more pages i open, cheers for that
