I do not know in which countries this will work but it certainly does in the UK. This URL when accessed will give you the current Bandwidth in Mbs available to you. http://www.2wire.com/bandwidth/initialmeter.php As soon as accessed it starts working and in a few seconds reports back to you. It is perfectly safe to use. It was given to me by my ISP. |

so what is your bandwith up and down my internet connection is 10 mg I get up to 2000or kbs when downloading from certain sites upload is about 250 but that tends to sacrifice download speed so I have set mine at 70kbs capped, my provider neither caps nor chokes my connection |

Nagila Cap'n Bandwidth speed only indicates the maximum available to you at that time. Not what you may achieve from any given site. Regardless of any tweaking you may do Bandwidth Speed is the maximum. It is a measure of how well your hardware connection to the net is. AHFA |

If you use FireFox browser, there's a nifty plug-in for it called;Broadband speed test and Diagnostics.Tests downspeed and upspeed with their server, diagnoses networking problems and configuration problems.Very handy tool. |

@nogds9 Thank you for providing that link. Unfortunately, the add on needs updated. Quote from that link # Causes Unsigned SSL Cert Problem FYI: This add-on breaks the "Or you can add an exception..." link to pages with unsigned(untrusted) SSL certificates in FF3. Without the link the user has to go through the multi-step process in the preferences to add an unsigned SSL cert to the exceptions list. I routinely deal with unsigned SSL certs in my job, so I'm always having to add exceptions to the list. Therefore, having the exceptions link is more valuable to me than this add-on. by mps1975 on July 28, 2008" Bummer cause I was gonna try it out |

@trekhippy,I've been using mine for a while, works great.I went to the site last night and I'm sorry, but I didn't see any precautions. Wonder if there is a way I can copy mine and give it to you?I'm going to try out the link to see if I get a message. |
