i cannot get the torrents to download . i use firefox and limewire and all i get is php file that has nothing, plus a load of gambling and porn pop ups.

does anyone have any idea how i can get it to work?

Use option [2] which takes you to the Mininova.org site and the dl torrent.

You must be using the BTchat mirror. If you heed jokers advice and use #2 you won't have any trouble.

I downloaded two torrents today using mirror 2 without any of the problems described.
Straight to the torrent, click download and open file
exactly as normal for mirror 2.
It occurs to me that the problem may lie with the torrent selected not the site?

and yes mirror 2 is now corrupted by BT-Chat.
Lord knows what it was trying to force on me but
managed to cancel before the rubbish completed downloading.

Used Mirror 3 for both, no problems, seems to be ok.

Recommend everybody now use mirror 3 in stead of mirror 2 where 3 is an option.
(prior torrents with 2 mirrors seem to be still OK with mirror 2)

strange i dl boston legal this morning , just checked it and it's fine, there wasn't an option 3 this morning so i'm guessing this must have just happend today?

mininova was down yesterday so eztv posted there alternative torrent links to zionk.it which gives a nice direct download of the torrent.

Please don't refer to the links as 1, 2, 3, etc as these can change daily in the current situation.

@ all why not just use bttv or iptorrents no problems with them ever or peertorrent and there is always demonoid I have never used eztv well not for a hell of a long time

The problem is that some malicious advertisers insert bad code in their banners, resulting in these unwanted popups/popunders.

The good news is that you can help us to track down these advertisers! It's quite simple using a freeware Windows application.

The program is called URL snooper and can be downloaded from http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/urlsnooper/. Please install the program and start it. Make sure that the "Protocol Filter" is set to "Show all" instead of "Multimedia URLs". If you hit the button "Sniff Network", it starts recording URLs. Hit "Stop Search" to stop the recording process.

If you manage to catch the popup while sniffing, please send me the URLs (menu File -> Save all URLs to a file) so I can take care of the rest

At this point not sure. Qaiting for my shows to come up and give it a try to see what happens.

I don't think it's a good think from what I've read from the EZTV news on it, they are getting complaints of popups and other malaware from btchat AND mininova links right now. I'd say don't use the links just go straight to mininova or piratebay or demonoid and do a search for the show you want straight there.

A word of caution, if you don't mind. Those who go directly to Mininova and Pirate Bay lose the most important aspect of eztv:

No fake torrents

So, if you want to use Mininova directly, that's fine, but you won't be protected by verified links from eztv. In other words - if you see a torrent on Mininova that says it's from eztv, the only way to be sure, is to use a link FROM eztv...

I will also say that there are people who simply don't want to use a private site - for whatever reason - and I think that should be respected.

I'm hoping that eztv is able to find a solution soon, all this confusion over where links are taking people and what they're going to encounter when they get there is wearing a little thin, isn't it? ;)

At the end of the day I have no respect for the people complaining anyway as it's obvious you can't be arsed to protect yourselves

Actually,I have never had a problem at Mininova and Piratebay. I just add EZTV or VTV to your search, the EZTV and VTV ones should have a few comments and from comments you should be able to determine which is the real release.

Plus, since it seems the problem with the links occurs when one clicks on the link, one could always copy the Hash code from the link. To do this you can enable the Status Bar View in your browser and hover over the second link, Status bar at the bottom will show you the hash code, or right click on the link and click on Properties, that will show you the same thing in a seperate little window. Then you copy that into the mininova or piratebay search and Viola, you have the EZTV official release.

Mininova and Piratebay are not private sites, as you do not have to be invited to register, and you do not have to register to download from them. Demonoid is a private site, but with very good reputation and quality control.

I too hope EZTV can find a solution, for those folks who still go there. I just found out about this problem as I have been very busy with the Invasion Iowa thing for the last few days.

Personally, I wasn't intending to 'complain' Just to inform.

This does not bode well for the site. I seem to remember the same kind of thing happened to torrentspy before it's demise. Legal fees may have caused the site to allow some questionable sponsors in order to generate more $$. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

The problem is Bt-Chat...

If you're going to use eztv, then just click on the link to Mininova, no need to copy the URL... I've never encountered a popup at Mininova (although eztv warns that some people have, I think this was several months ago and Mininova took care of it on their end).

Your suggestion to use the Status Bar is extremely helpful, however, now that eztv is using 3 links and has changed the order of which is which...

So, if you have IE, and your status bar is not already enabled, go to the main menu, click on View and select status bar. When you hover with your mouse, the results should display at the bottom of your IE window...

Lately, I've been getting popups from all websites, so there is obviously some that will get you no matter what you're looking at for websites. Even with Firefox Adblocker doesn't handle them all.

I'm sure the admins of EZTV will have it all figured out shortly, it sounds like they have a good handle on how to find out the information to help them put a stop to it.

Okay I don't mean to belabor the point, but eztv isn't doing any of this - they don't have ads on their site, popup or otherwise. The popup ads are not being generated by them.

If you're not getting popups when you visit Mininova directly, you're not going to get popups when you click on the link from eztv to download from Mininova.

And, eztv has no power over Bt-Chat - this has been going on for months. The only power eztv has is to not use Bt-Chat. I assume that's why they're testing direct links to zoink.

For members who do not understand how eztv works - they are a distributor of verified torrents. They don't host torrents, unlike sites like Mininova.

Even though it's a public site, the general public cannot upload to eztv, that's why it's such a clean and amazing site!

@trekhippy mirror 2 is supposed to be mininova but there is a problem with popups, so they have mirror 3 wich took me to mininova with no problems
I would still reccommend eztv, as kolbinfo says eztv only has verified torrents, no fakes and they are fast to appear for downloading

never had a problem with mininova or eztv but I am gonna deck whoever runs piratebay. I have been using them for a long time simply because it's quick and safe but now I am blocked - with point633seconds) left to go on a show so after downloading 99.4 am stuck - and I even registered a long time ago so i could have more luck but now I can't get anything from their site despite my being an apparent vip user. What gives? Anyone? Oh and those using mininova just be aware that vtv is very good but apparently related to piratebay from what I can see.

Yes, eztv has moved their numbering around, so I'm going to stop referring to any particular link as the one for Mininova (it could change again). Just be sure to determine which link is which before clicking on it, and avoid Bt-Chat ;)

Know this may be off topic, but it may help those who are having trouble with dls that do not complete.

Last time I d/loaded from EZTV was late Thursday/early Friday. I d/loaded two files, one from one site (turned out to be Mininova (no popups or popunders) the second from another site, in that case was not taken anywhere, the little d/load requester just appeared on my screen. No problems here.

I only use EZTV.it for my tvshow downloads, I never get any ads but I also have the adblock plus add-on installed for firefox which I highly recommend. It completely removes ads from every page I visit, the only problem is that sometimes it leaves whitespace there instead and makes viewing some pages a little wierd but other than that it is great!

I understand that the guys from eztv have probs with the server and all that.
But what is the deal with the few uploads and some of them so late?
Take rescue me for example.
It's been on rapidshare for about 36 hours now, a guy uploaded it on mininova also almost 2 days ago.
And eztv is releasing michael jackson tribute and big brother and all that junk but not rescue me?

I have trusted the uploads from eztv for quite some time now, and i dont mean to direspect, but if there is a bunch of people who do the same thing and a so much quicker i will thankfully use their work.
And frankly i dont get what's that with their uploads on mininnova anyway?
only like 72 byte files, i dont even get what that is and why they do their uploads that way.

I have been using EZTV for tv shows almost exclusively for around 18 months, maybe even longer. I have never had a bad download and the majority of shows are available within 3 hours of airing.

EZTV shows are always full versions. The small url files you get for some shows on mininova are text files which provide the url for downloading. This is to bypass problems with mininovas filtering system.

If you use EZTV(when it is back up) instead of mininova then you will always get direct access to the file.

And they are checked out before being made available
so you can trust anything you D/l from them not to have any
form of malware which is why members here get upset when
they are not online for whatever reason.

Note for all if you use mininova you should when viewing a torrent
that is said to be EZTV ensure that those 4 letters are in RED
they are the genuine article. None but the real EZTV can get their name in red.

Also if when you search add EZTV at the end of your search parameters and only EZTV torrents will be displayed for your parameters.

See, I use EZ and mininova and all the pub sites, but I've found that if you go to some of the private or less known sites you will find the files there first. Son of Shun has Bill Maher and such..IPT has the Sci Fi stuff and Nova and Science Channel and cable tv stuff, mostly those are rared (compressed) and so need to be expanded, but that's easy enough.

Have you noticed that over 90-f the EZTV stuff on Mininova is only text torrents now telling where to dl the programs.

Also a lot of stuff that used to be on Mininova is no longer there.

Is that because EZTV put up all its torrents on mininova as a mirror?

No actually there was a notice a while back on EZTV that they were going to be using PirteBay due to policy changes on Mininova.

Although shows were still available on both. Akso shows are available on BT-Chat. (Which I do not care for)

EZTV just upped an entire episode of Big Brother today. Not the text, the whole video.

EZTV is 'dead and buried' as far as I'm concerned. Been doing straight torrents in their prolonged absense, like I used to, and was really surprised how much faster and how many more torents there are to D/L compared to EZTV. Novaking is an idiot....he'll lose half, if not more, of his old user base....if not more....with his lame excuses about being down 5 weeks to swap sites....ROFL
