I am sorry, but I am so sick of leechers. I have uploaded Dinosaurs and Star Trek TNG, I've been seeding TNG for a few weeks, and NO ONE HAS STARTED SEEDING! I see the same thing happening with Dinosaurs. IF this is not corrected by whatever means necessary, I shall have to stop uploading here. I cannot waste bandwidth on leechers when there are perfectly good SHARERS and SEEDERS on my other sites. Again, I'm sorry to have to be all NATZI about this. |

I've had a similar problem at times with a few so now I upload to the other site (Demonoid) and then I download my torrent from Demonoid and I upload it here. I pick up immediate seeders there. That's why most of the stuff I upload are Demonoid Trackers and Demonoid kicks people out if they don't seed at least 1 to 1. |
||

Please don't do that. We all love you here (apol to BF). I agree with you to some extent but remember whilst they are leeching they are in the net and probably seeding what they have to some extent which does make it better for all. And think how nice it is to be Boldly spreading the word that Star Trek Lives Forever!!! LLS (Live Long and Seed!) |

I can't blame you trekhippy for getting frustrated, obviously, Demonoid's strict ratio requirements prevent cut and runners... In addition, this site also has so many newbies unfamiliar with P2P, some don't even know they're suppose to stay and seed, at a minimum, what they take... However, with what appears to be so many sci-fi fans at this site, I'm surprised you're not getting more (continued) participation... I sense growing level of frustration from those trying to upload exclusively to this site... |
||
Sep 26, 2007 12:17PM |
No... not at all. No Frustrations here. Not all sites work the same and you just have to find different ways of doing things. The way I do it is perfectly acceptable to me. Frankly no site has Demonoids strict requirements, thank god. I download a huge amount there obviously, and I am always frustrated with them. |
||
Sep 26, 2007 12:35PM |
thetrekhippy, I can understand your possible frustration on this and dont want to step on any toes. But it is most likley that due to the sheer size of the downloads that some downloaders have been scared off. Unless you are a power downloader with a very fast connection it would take quite a few days to download these files. Most likely those downloading are doing so an episode or 3 at a time. Yes everyone should seed what they download. Personally I like to download an episode at a time. |

Jay, I think you might be an exception... You have the technical know-how and the equipment where-with-all to keep this site stocked with great torrents (very much appreciated)... However, the comments I've been reading from members like musta (no longer active here), trekhippy, and joker seem to indicate they're having problems getting people to hold up their end of the seeding bargain on the some of the torrents (for older shows) they've uploaded, strictly to this site... Maybe I'm misinterpreting... that's very possible... I know people are anxious to contribute with new torrents, but they don't always grab them (along with existing trackers) from other sites, so they seem a little disappointed when they upload original captures, using only the sharetv tracker, to this site and people don't continue to seed... |

The size of some of these files makes it very difficult to seed two or three copies,most of us have very slow speeds.An 8gb dl takes me about 4 days,then another 3or4 days to seed one copy back.Try realizeing what its like to be on a site with people doing 5to10Mb/s,you just can't keep up with them.512 up gets you nowhere fast.So maybe you elitist speed freaks should have a little patiance with us slowbe's.So the kings of bandwith will never have to worry about their spot at the top.Thats why the point system sucks all to hell. |
||
Sep 26, 2007 1:19PM |
kolbinfo and azoth I have to agree with you. azoth not so sure about the point system. They have me listed as a Pro and I still feel like a Newbie/Novice. Actually I think the point system should include a couple of more steps before you make Pro with some thing like 300 points more needed between each until you reach 1000 . Who cares who's on top as long as the uploads are good and there are no download problems with them. Just wish they were single eps and not whole seasons at once. |
||

If anyone wants to talk about frustration I have asked in a couple of places in the Forums for anyone able to upload the missing Angel and Buffy the Vampire Series seasons, but no replies or takers yet. |

Well, we're certainly hearing from all sides here... So, it sounds like file size and connection speed (for both the person uploading an original torrent from their computer and the peers downloading / seeding) are significant contributing factors... Trekhippy does, however, seem to indicate her experience is different at other sites. If she is uploading the same large files elsewhere, and they get seeded with no problem, then I guess she is concluding that the "problem" is with members at this site, or maybe it's just a smaller pool of interested members at sharetv right now... |
||
Sep 26, 2007 1:51PM |
Joker if you want single eps just select what you want to download. Trekhippy your the best keep up the good work. I think a few weeks is enough for you to seed. If you are getting too many leachers, stop seeding, youve done more than enough for these people. It seems all the weight is on your bandwith and thats not fair. Its true there are many people on this site that are new to torrents. The word must go out that they are required to seed. This is give and take people make sure you seed otherwise people will ban your ip so you can never connect to them again. Make Sure you Seed at least what you get so the torrent stays alive. You must share!!!!!!! |

since the Fall season started sharetv is up to averaging over 20,000 visitors each day. however, most of our traffic comes from places like google with people just looking for tv sites. sites like mininova get far more visitors and are made up people familiar with torrents. we really a tv site first to solve these issues I suggest the following: 1) all torrents be moved to a new site which will be strictly for torrents [ torrentguy.org ]. the goal of this site will be to organize and attract as many torrent users to increase seeders/peers. 2) we just link to the torrents from sharetv in an easy format. and work on more tv community/video stuff for sharetv what do you think? |
||
Sep 26, 2007 3:20PM |
I like the idea very much, Chris... Best of both worlds! |
||
Sep 26, 2007 3:20PM |
Nope |
||
Sep 26, 2007 3:24PM |
it won't change much for sharetv users. when you click on a torrent instead of it taking you to that torrent's info page on sharetv it will be on torrentguy where there will be more torrent type features |

I sincerely hope that what you envisage will do the job. It seems to me that many members (just by surfing the membership) don't participate but are just looking for torrents that they cannot find elsewhere. Of the current 81,009 members I wonder just how many actually visit more than say once a week and how many have been inactive for over 2 weeks. |

Something you guys should remember is that some of us live in the states. We got the stupid RIAA and MPAA that may and might come after our asses. I generally try to seed atleast one full copy, but if I see the torrents done, I just remove it. I do attempt to share as much as possible on legal torrents though. |
||

AS far as the kings of bandwith will never have to worry about their spot at the top goes, I assume you are referring to me since I am on the top. You can rest assured that I did not get all those points by commenting in the Forum. I too disagree with the point system Azoth. Trekhiipy received three points for uploading and seeding her huge file and you received the same three points for commenting about people being on the top. Go figure! As far as people hitting and running go, most of the visitors on the site are newbies. That's what newbies do. I never seeded when I was a newbie either and I thought I was beating the system. I think the desire to seed and share came little by little as I learned more about this business and began to participate. Sure there will be people that will never come back but there will be a certain percentage of people that will return, and return again and eventually become part of the group. I think we have a nucleus of really good people here (led by Kolbinfo), that are willing to share, help and teach new people what torrents are about. I still learn something everyday here. That is good business in any book and that can only attract more good people. Last but not least, the one that should complain is Chris. He uses his skills to create a site that every one of us here have benefited by in some way and we all complain that it is not good enough. Trekhippy is understandably frustrated because she does things the right way, the way it should be done and gets no help from seeders or other members. This is a dynamite site with nowhere to go but up with the Best. Give it a chance to grow. That's my 2 cents anyway. |

Sorry it took so long for me to come back to the thread, I have had the flu for the last day. Wow, OK that is hearing from all sides, TY all for your contribution to the thread. As to the fact of the size of the upload of Star Trek, That is true however if everyone will remember I DID put it up in the forums and SEVERAL people committed to seeding it even if it is large, and that was a couple weeks BEFORE I uploaded it. As far as I'm concerned, too many people will take just an episode or a few out of a torrent like the TNG one, and then seeding only that eppy. I realize this is probably the only way to get SOME of the episodes, but I'm sure there are individual cuts of episodes, or even the Season cuts, out there that they can get instead. At least TWO people completed the torrent and left IMMEDIATELY. I believe True TREKKIES should seed it for at least a 2 to 1 ratio, and others should seed it for 1 to 1. As to Uploading to Demonoid, I actually did upload and have one time people didn't seed. I seeded for a month, on Sevendust DVD I won from a local radio station, and no one else seeded, only leeched. I have noticed demonoid hasn't purged low ratio users for awhile, but I quit uploading there to.. For now, I will keep my obligation to upload whatever I had already promised and posted either in the forum or on my profile page. I will seed them, as I always do, to a 4 to 1 ratio. After that I may upload individual episodes but I will not be able to upload any more large or Full Series torrents. I think one of the reasons I might have felt the need to come across this way is that I want this site to be successful, and it will only help if people are seeding the torrents and using the sharetv tracker, at least I think. I am sorry again for sounding so harsh and frustrated, and I want everyone to know I appreciate the understanding expressed here. |

Ok, adding on here, It's not about how fast you can seed, it's about how long you can seed. I started out ten years ago on Free Juno Dial Up, ten hours a day, and if I hadn't sacrificed my own download time to seed properly, I would not still be allowed to download today. I started on Winmx and as you know many of those users were very strict on leechers. I learned very quickly that if I wanted to get my files, I had to share equally. So NEWBIE or not, I started out sharing fairly, and I expect every other newbie to learn just as fast. I hope they can read, 'cause this post is here for them to learn from. It's all about sacrifice, commitment. My need to seed was a natural part of my hippy ways, but I know from chat on winmx alot of folks need to seed came Very Quickly from their need to get the files they wanted. |

Getting away from the topic a bit, and getting into storage, I have a ton of space on my hard drives, but I still prefer to store on DVD discs. The double layer discs are huge considering the amount of space they take up and how much they cost, and the regular DVD's are still very large and very cheap. 400 gigs of space cost about $20. They are safer to store on and I find it easier to manage a lot of files. They are readily available to put back on a computer and require no space to hold them. As soon as I get a show, it goes on a DVD. If the show season is not complete it goes on a rewritable. When finished the season it goes on regular discs. When I am finished seeding, I delete it from my hard drive and wipe the space. If I need to reseed, I pull the disc out and upload it on my computer. If my hard drive crashes, I pull it out and replace it without losing a show. It works for me very well. |

Yes I have had times, though extremely rare when I didn't get a seeder out of Demonoid. For the most part, my uploads usually last many months after I stop seeding and sometimes longer. I usually seed back 15-1 to them but I have one hard drive dedicated to only them. I've been uploading more of the single very popular episodes to them lately because I reach the 15-1 ratio more quickly, usually in a week or less. All in all, I prefer this site becuase of the human element here. At Demonoid, you deal with a pre-programmed, non thinking, un-intelligent, non-caring, computer that is bogged down with rules. |
||
Sep 26, 2007 9:02PM |
Speaking of seeding. How long do you seed a show before removing it? |
||
Sep 26, 2007 9:22PM |
Hopefully the show will last and it will continue seeding however I seed at Demonoid only up to a 15-1 ratio which on one episode hot shows, is about a week. I seed 15 to 1 because I never know when I have to go in and get a big file that has no chance of being paying anything back. Here I seed as long as necessary. When there are no more people interested, I stop seeding but remember, I keep the show on a disk and could put it back anytime. Since I'm using a few other large sites to help me seed, I never really have a problem. For the most part, I can probably stop seeding in a few days. |

I have an almost 7:1 ratio at ipt bun I never shut my damn puter off just dont worry about it so I have been seeding some stuff on Ipt for over a year now same with all my other sites I am that stupid bunny in the adverts I keep on giving and giving or like a porn star lol |

@capt what about your isp ? they try that cap upload and down shit (60ggs) # 10$ for 10ggs more ! |

NIP Any one using IPT they have removed the Freedl block from the Browsing page. You can still find the Freedls by doing a search for Free or Freeleech. It is very easy to build your ratio by doing this. With all the free stuff they have there is most likley something that you would like and could leave seeding for a day or two to build your ratio. |

again thank you do that to build up mmm What i am doing is just seeding samples of hot one`s(new)lol it`s working ? But thanks more is better. yes ? |
