I have been using uTorrent V. 1.6.1 for awhile.

Someone at one of the other DL sites said not to UPLD the newer versions. Is there any reason for this?

I would like to know also.I dled v 1.7.2 two weeks ago,not running well with some of my other apps.

A few weeks ago, "Somneone" determined that Utorrent 1.7X and upward, Bit Comet and Bit Lord had a bug that was reporting Private information outside of the Tracker. It was advise that anyone using 1.7 and up to use Utorrent 1.61

However on July 21, 2007 Utorrent in response to the reports released a new version of 1.72 that fixed the leaking to non-private peers. There have been no reports that the new version has bugs and it seems to have fixed the problem.

I dropped Zonealarm firewall,added the patch for WindowsXP,reconfigured my static address,reinstalled my routor software and upgraded it,forwarded the ports for uTorrent,and allowed an exception for same in windows firewall,configured my routor for static addressing,and finally I get ver.1.7.2 to give me a green dot.Life is good.

im using the 1.7.5 ver. and its all good for me

Yes, im using a 1.7.5 ver. too. its good and it have some new features, like download/upload limit per torrent.

has anyone tried 1.7.7 I'm getting prompts to install, am currently using 1.7.5 and after tweaking it to get faster dl speeds i am reluctant to mess with it

been using 1.7.7 for a few days and have noticed no difference whatsoever

1.7.7 works ok for me.download speed is 101k(ihave 1 mbit connection) but i must set the upload rate as 10 kb.

Just use the latest version always unless your use a private tracker with a overly strict ban list.

Am using ver.1.7.7 and it is working great. Don't know if anyone else has noticed this but it is no longer reserving HD space the min. you add a torrent for dling. Because I have very limited HD space I have to
keep track. Prior versions reserved HD space the minitue you added a torrent for dling.

@congman I had poor speeds before and restricting the upload to 10 or pausing them till dl is done is one of the things that helped, today primeval came down at 185kb/s before i was getting a combined speed of 60 for 3 or more dl's

Using uTorrent V. 1.6.0.1 have great speed, and I have not had any problems for about a year, so why F*** it up with a uppgrade. When something works well, dont mess it up, what you think you get, is in the end new problems.

I am using 1.7.7 and have had no problem.

Upgrading to ver.1.7.7 will not change any of your setting.Go to uTorrent's forum and read what people have to say about it.I do this whenever there is a new version.If your short on space I would recommend an external storage devise or archive to data DVD's.

I have had great experiences with uTorrent no matter the version. I would highly recommend that you allow it to automatically notify you when there is a new version available, and install it at your convenience. You will not lose any torrents or settings by keeping up to date with the latest release.

If you are more picky about what you install, you can always pop on their forums to confirm that there are no issues with the release. However, they almost always beta test releases quite thoroughly before sending them out to the general public.

The new u torrent is working great some trackers bugs .
But i up dated and works fine.

1.7.7 does gets the job done freezes once in a while but system is on 24/7

it worked good justed updated to help with bugs .
its working good ipt trackers don`t like it .

The 1.8.1 build has been the smoothest running version they have offered in a long time,thank you.The UPnP(Universal Plug and Play)has worked flawlessly for me,this protocol has taken the pain out of forwarding ports,most new routers and modems support this little used protocol.Have noticed no slow downs in d/l speed or virus attacks.

My downloads now run at up to 800kbs (for more than one torrent)
my best on previous was a little over 200kbs.

is the best yet it`s got lots of setings to play with ,The UPnP
can be beat .
