Hey all, i am running mac OS X 10.3.9, how do i get uTorrent to run, im using BitTorrent at the moment but it is way to slow.

for my understading utorrent is windows only.

I've seen it run on a Mac before, but not sure how its setup.

Wow, old thread but it applies to my problem. Using the current stable utorrent build, with pg2's paranoid blocklist and my setup and system having not changed for a long time, i've started getting more disconnect errors in my utorrent log. I can't make any sense of them or what to do to fix any of them. Also utorrent keeps on banning 192.168.0.4 which happens to be the ip of my pc within my network, and I can't make it stop doing that, so I have to keep on resetting the bans. So any ideas or anybody wanting to look over my log and see if they can figure anything out would be very helpful. Thanks! Also if anybody has the BBC Horizon Are We Alone...from demonoid I could use another seed. Thanks!

Look into setting up a static address,you can find info or links on how to do this at uTorrent.

I have static address, because Qwest said that's what I had to do. I know the ip of my modem is the same xcept for it's 0.1 instead of 4... anyway i did figure out that I had my limit for open connections way too low. so now it's better and faster, thanks nog!

Only use torrents from trusted uploaders. For TV use eztv.it For movies use superfundo.org For music use mininova.org while there look for downloads with lots of seeders these are usually safest but be sure to check the comments to see if it is genuine. As for software i'm not sure of any good sites. Software can be tricky as it is more likley to have hidden nasties.

Does Utorrent works on Limewire, Kazaa or Frostwire?

No, uTorrent is just like Limewire or Frostwire, they are download clients. I don't know if they all use torrent, cause I've never used those Wire ones, or Kazaa for that matter. Most websites prefer downloaders to use utorrent, as far as I know. Most websites will have a list of banned clients.

Old thread but I feel I should warn people NOT to use Limewire(not sure about the other two) Limewire in my experience gives you tons of viruses and most of the time gets infected really quickly and starts loading up on it's own whenever you close it.

I've had to reformat a client's computer 3 times already because he was using limewire and I've now stopped because he would not start using torrents like I requested.

If you download utorrent, it won't let you open it, right?
