Are there stickys here? If you are on Linux I recommend ktorrent or Azureus. Azureus is often a resource hog but is feature full. Ktorrent works great. Your Linux distro probably has both in its repositories. |

Unfortunately, there are no stickys here (yet)... So, I'm sending this VERY helpful post back to the top... "Everything you ever wanted to know about torrents but didn't know how to ask" is contained in the links provided here by trekhippy... |

Everything? Well, I don't know about that, but I appreciate the props kolbinfo, as well as the info and the thread bump! If anyone can please tell me some questions or problems not found in any of those faq's and guides listed, I can type some answers up and post them. I want to help the newbies learn too. |

Ares links http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/ Home Page You can download, view FAQ's and support there. I'll look for some forums and other links for this. |

I would write up a guide on how to use the site functions but since they are in flux I'll just write up a few shorter guides on like how to fix up your profile page etc.. Although most of that may seem pretty self explanatory, I know alot of people who have trouble with computer stuff. |

that's ares link doesn't work... so whats the best way to configure peer guardian? I'm just using the anti-p2p list for now |

"Bumping" a thread means you post in it to move it back to the top. Admin will be getting to creating sticky posts soon (they stay at the top of the forum). We bump this thread so that newbies will continue to see it... |

Some download sites have links to download shows marked as repacked or nuked - can someone explain to me what repacked and nuked are and/or what that means please? Thanks. |
||
8 months ago |
@Sandy Proper and Repacks are issued to correct significant flaws with the original capture, such as voice out of sync with picture... Those flawed captures are classified as "nuked" meaning that a proper can be issued. Some repacks, however, are based on crop issues that don't affect the viewing or enjoyment of the torrent and are just the result of spats between release groups... Typically, only one torrent (in each file format) for each show is uploaded at each torrent site, so a new torrent must be designated as a PROPER or REPACK in order for it to be accepted by the site and not rejected as a duplicate. Of course, Trekhippy has links for members to check to see if a torrent has been "nuked" listed above. Hope that helps answer your question... |

I can't seem to find an answer on the internet so I'm asking here. I want to seed some files I got from someone, and I can seed as long as I'm downloading, but as soon as that's finished, I can't seed any more. I have no trouble seeding other files. I have latest stable utorrent. I disabled dht, upnp and all that other stuff. I disabled pg2 I made sure my firewall and nod 32 were set for allowing the program. I am stumped. Help? Thanks in advance. TheTrekhippy |

@trekhippy So, do active leechers disconnect from you the moment you've reached 100%? Is this a large swarm? Or, just a handful of occasional downloaders? I believe that bittorrent protocol gives seeding priority to those who have seeded (back) the least... I could be wrong about this, but I think if there are 1 or 2 leechers, and 2 or 3 seeders, you may not be connected until those who have seeded less have increased their ratio... |
||

TY kolbinfo. There is only one seeder for all the files, same seeder. small swarms no more than 15. Yes all active leechers disconnect as soon as I reach 100%. Utorrent log says things like..disconnected no such torrent and a hash that is different from the one shown on the torrent. Also disconnect connection closed and disconnect peer offline. I've pm'd the uploader and am waiting to see if there is any help from there. usually I have only seeded about half the file by the time I'm done downloading. Thanks for any help. |
||

Hi Trekhippy, I can tell you that the only time I've received the "no such torrent" message is when a torrent has been deleted from the site. I'm sure the uploader can give you more details, of course. Hope you get it resolved soon ;) |

This is a great list! I'd also add VidPirate - www.vidpirate.com. They're always fast and up to date. |

@ Trekhippy Have 2 suggestions. 1. Once you have the file dld unter the files properties check the initial seeding box and see if that works. 2. Other is to create a torrent for it and upload someplace else. |
