This is a guide for those that need help with burning their downloads to DVD to watch on their DVD player. This guide also uses Nero. Other burners added soon!

Pre-requisites
1) One or more videos that you have downloaded
2) Burner software: I recommend Nero
3) DVD burner in your PC!!
4) DVD player capable of playing DivX/XviD encoded videos
5) Empty writable/re-writable DVD's

NOTE: If your DVD player cannot play DivX/XviD encoded avi's all is not lost, you can use this utility to convert avi DivX/XviD to MPEG-4 http://avi-wmv-mp4-converter.mp3towav-org.qarchive.org/

I haven't used it, so I cannot explain how to use it, sorry.
You will need multiple DVD's if you are burning Seasons/multiple episodes.

GUIDE:
1) Open Nero StartSmart, and highlight Photo and Video
2) Click "Make Your Own DVD-Video"
3) Click the More>> button and select Video Options
5) Select if you are in a PAL or NTSC region
6) Click DVD-Video tab
7) Select the quality you want (this depends on how much video you can store on a disc)
8) Select your aspect ratio. 4:3 is for non widescreen tv's 16:9 is for widescreen capable tv's. 4:3 tv's look square whereas 16:9 rectangular.
9) Accept settings and then click "Add Video Files"
10) Navigate to the videos you want to burn.
WARNING: If Nero warns that you are going over 4.5GB remove some videos from your playlist. You will have to repeat this and put those videos you couldn't fit on the first one on the second DVD.
11) For quick video adding, hold CTRL and slect videos. This way you can add more than one at a time.
12) Click next to edit your menu
13) Click next to revise your settings, then burn!
14) Enjoy your new DVD(s)

If your DVD doesn't work on your DVD player, try encoding the files using the utility found in the "NOTE:" section of this guide. It may be that your DVD player does not support DivX/XviD playback.

New burning sofware guide coming soon!

If you have VOB files, all you gave to do is copy and paste on disc. Put empty disc in, open it on windows explorer, then drag and drop all files to it. Simple.

If there is anything I have left out please let me know. I would put pictures if I could...

Thx for the instructions.
May I suggest for those who try but are still unable, the following.
Get as large a monitor as you can afford in flat screen.
Use the Videolan VLC player and pretend your
computer is a TV. If you wish to keep your videos offline use Nero to burn data files
(you can also use Nero express for this)
NB Videolan allows you to adjust the viewing aspect (sizing) of a video file.
Hope I do not detract from the main thread.

The above Quide seems awfully complicated.
I use Nero Ultra 7.
You have to make 1 of 2 choices when you start.
1 CD or DVD
2 DATA or Video File
DATA files are saved in a Divx format
Video are recompressed. To access Video burning Click on Nero Burning Rom then scrol
down left side to video icon.

Either way it is a 1234 procedure of simply following each step and clicking next until it asks you to Burn CD or DVD

Not trying to take anything away from hax0rzd's guide but I thought i'd give everyone an alternitive to using 4-6 DVD per Season.

I have just spent several days investigating and perfecting the process for creating extra long (6-10 Hour) DVD's. I had seen references in various forums to something called a "KDVD" but it took a lot of work to find out how to create one. As I use this process mainly for compressing TV Series I thought I would share.

Using the method below it is possible to burn a season of 1 hour Shows (that's generally 24x42 minute episodes) onto 2x4.7Gb DVD's and still maintain at least TV quality (maybe not HD but you can't have everything)

Requirements
1) DIXV Converter (Available as part of the DIVX 6 Package)
2) TMPGEmc (Google it and DL the newest version)
3) Nero (or any other DVD burning Software)
4) Blank DVD's
5) Time (This doesn't take much work but you'll need to leave your PC on over night for a couple of nights)

I'm going to assume that if you've read this far you kinda know what you are doing so I'm not going to go into too much detail.

Before you start you need to go to the following link - http://www.kvcd.net/dvd-models.html - and download the "KDVD Half D1" Template and save it in .../Program Files/pegasys Inc/TMPGEnc/Templates

1) DIVX Converter
Use DIVX Converter to "Convert" your files to DIVX format.
This cleans up the AVI files and removes any strange Codecs which may cause problems later on.
Make sure the quality setting at the bottom is "Home Theatre" and remember to specify the save path for the DIVX Files in preferences by right clicking on the Converter before starting it.

2) TMPGEnc
There is a step by step guide with pictures of how to use TMPGEmc at - http://www.soft29.com/dvd_avi_to_kvcd_burner.html - Only follow this guide until step 6.
Once you reach step 6 select "File" then "Add Current Project To Batch List" and select "MPEG File".
You can then restart the Wizard by selecting "File" then "Project Wizard" which will take you back to Step 1 of the guide, repeat this till you have added all of the DIVX Files you have created.

3) Nero Vision (Or other burning software)
Create your DVD in the normal way.
Add the MPG files, which were created by TMPGEmc, till your DVD is full (if you have 12 episodes and your DVD is full with 11 remove the tick from "Fit to 4.7 Gb DVD" and follow instruction 4).
Add Menu's and any Buttons/Backgrounds you want.
Encode the DVD.

4) Nero Recode (Only if you need it)
If you needed to remove the tick from the "Fit to 4.7Gb DVD" you will now need to "Re-code your DVD". Usually I try to stay away from this as the Quality can suffer but I've used it successfully several times in this process as the reduction is not large. the most you will probably have to drop the quality by is 90-95% always move the menu slider up to 100% (the menu uses next to nothing on the DVD so you might as well maintain it's quality.

5) Nero Burning ROM
The final stage is to Burn the whole thing onto DVD.
This also is done in the normal way, Open the Burning ROM, Copy the Files from the Right Pane into the Left Pane and hit Burn.

6) Pat yourself on the back.

The main thing to remember is that this process converts the file up to 4 times and each of these will reduce the quality slightly, plus you're probably downloading something that someone else recorded "Off the TV" so don't expect perfection but it's good enough to keep you happy till you can pick up the DVD release cheap in the January Sales, lol.

I'll check back on this thread often and answer any questions if I can.

I found an easy to use coverter and burner.Converts many diferrent file types to the format that dvd players use.High quality results in both video and audio. Have been able to fit 3 full leighth movies on one disc. DVDflicks comes with IMG Burn built in. Two hour moive takes about 3hours to burn (the converting taking the lions share of the chore.

Tried the Divx Converter and it does work well. Though it is a mem/processor hog.
Deffinately an over nighter for any large series or files.

I think the dvd player would have a divx emblem somewhere on it. If you have the owners manual it would be in there. my dvd player does not suppot divx, but it does support;mp-1,mp-2,mp-3/WMA/JPEG,SACD.I use dvdflick to convert my files to mp-2 format and burn to disc.

My DVD player plays DivX and it has the symbol on the unit itself. Your alternative is to download the manual for your DVD player - just google it - and that will give you your manual back..

If you have a DivX capable DVD player, all you have to do is, as said earlier, make a data disc of your files. I make a disc copy that stays with me and a backup of everything...in addition to what I keep on my TBs of drives :) All you do is pop that sucker into your player and voila! If you don't have a DivX compatible DVD player, Magnavox makes one for like $30 at Wal-Mart, and I'm sure it's similarly priced elsewhere...

Now, as far as converting .avi files into VOBs (MPEG-2), and making an authored DVD, there are a variety of ways you can do it. You can use Avid ($$$), DVDit!, or a number of other programs. I won't go into details here because I'd probably just confuse you, but I think the simplest way to do it is just buy that cheap DVD player...or run a VGA, S-Video, DVI, etc from your comp to TV ;)

If you own a XBOX 360 and run Windows XP on your computor you can stream video to your TV.XBOX360 has Windows media exstender built in.All one has to do is connect and configure.I have mine hooked up wireless and use the VGA interface to stream video to my big screen LCD.

There are many free programs that are quite good. Its your choice maybe a donation, if you like a program and can afford it >

I have no idea how this can be, but I had used ConvertXtoDVD to burn some .avi's so I could watch them on a DVD player. I then used Nero Vision 4 to import the DVD, so from a 4.5GB dvd I burned with ConvertX, to NeroVision 4 right. Guess what happens next>? It says the compilation is too big to fit on a blank DVD of the same size. Isn't that weird? Any idea how that can be?

Try using dvd shrink before you burn to disk. It's (my favorite word) free

I do have that, but as I stated, ConvertXtoDVD shrunk it to fit a 4.5 gb DVD, so it should have still fit through Nero. My question was, why would it not?

I must have misunderstood to whole question.
On a personal note I gave up converting a year ago and bought a divx player just copy file and a thumb drive and plug and watch. When I need to burn on disk for someone else I only use imTOO dvd creator it's just drag and drop then burn. It's one of the few I have been able to get to work with vista.

God Save the Queen!

Don't know why you are having problems burning yur DVD's.
I dld ConvertXtoDVD. set it up and then ran it.
Converted Canal Road all 7 eps and Battlestar Galactica 10 eps and 2 specials shown in 2008 with no problem and burned to DVD.
Both played perfectly.

I am using Nero 8 for burning.
Suggest you do a updates and re-installs for your ConvertXtoDVD and Nero.
