A feature we have been slowly working on for the past 6 months is adding quality backgrounds for each popular TV show. However, for those users with lower resolutions or slow internet connections it made viewing the site quite slow so by default they are disabled. You can re-enable them by logging-in then clicking on the "Enable Show Backgrounds" checkbox on the top right-hand corner of your profile page.

(note: make sure you are using a resolution of at least 1280x800 to see the background)

A bit of a problem...I've logged out and then relogged in but still do not see the backgrounds nor the checkbox on my profile page. My monitor is set well above the required resolution. What am I doing wrong?

The only thing I have there is the question 'What is this?'.
yes i had the same error as "theprisoner6" said only had the question no check box to mark. It may be a browser problem, i upgraded to Internet explorer 9, now it works fine and check box appeared.

I currently run IE9 with Vista. I remember seeing the backgrounds a few weeks ago on some of the program pages, but now see none. I will try reloading IE9 and see what diffence that makes.
there was an issue with some versions of IE where the 'Enable Show Backgrounds' checkbox wasn't showing up. should be fixed now.

great. glad to see it's working now for IE. should start to get even more users activating the backgrounds now. current count is 126 members have turned them on so far.

but it won't work...
My internet connection is quit good,
and I have a resolution of 1440x900
I checked the box but when I come back to my home page it's unchecked.
I also have tried to log out and then log on again.
What else can I do?
Here are some tips that might solve your problem
Check to make sure Cookies for this perticular site are enabled, which can be checked in your browser settings. Cookies are used to store relavent setting of a site, if your check box keeps getting unchecked, it means this site is not allowed to store settings in your pc folder.
If that does not help then check to make sure java script is enabled in your browser.
Also make sure you are using the latest version of your browser.
@elffie, what browser/version and operating system are you using so I can test to see if there is a problem on our end or possibly with your security settings?
I use google chrome I don't know what version and I have windows 7 on my laptop.

I don't think that is it., because it will store the password.

I now found out that Java is not enabled in my browser
and I can not find anywhere to reverse it...
@elffie, if you can login then you should be able to activate the backgrounds.
what version of Chrome are you using? click on "About Google Chrome" in the file menu to find out. I'll then test on the same OS/browser and see if I can get it working
I just tested with Windows 7 and Google Chrome version 12.0.742.112 and was able to activate backgrounds without an issue.
@elffie, try using another browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox). if you can get it working then we'll confirm it's an issue with your browser and we'll go from there.

I tried internet explorer and that also won't work.
Its working completely fine for me, loving the backgrounds makes the pages less plain.

My friend logged on on my computer on her shartv account,
and she does have the pretty pictures!
why does my checkbox still keeps getting unchecked,
and no pictures in my own account on the same computer?
I don't get it, can anyone explain?

Well about that, you should then text administrator (itcdr), send him a private message about your dilemma from your account's profile page.

@elffie, excellent! I'm glad you were persistent as you forced us to fix a couple bugs that I'm sure stopped others from enabling the special backgrounds as well.
@miktha, thanks for the compliment. and thanks to the mods who have helped contribute so many great images
as of now 270 members have enabled the backgrounds. now that we fixed the bugs we'll hopefully see this number grow even faster.

I enabled the backgrounds but I'm not seeing it. I've tried Firefox and IE. My screen is set to 1280x1024.
How do I choose what background to use?

You can't choose a background. Enabling show backgrounds allows you to see a set background for a particular show. Keep in mind that not all shows will have a background image.

Click on the above link. If you have enabled background images you should be seeing an image behind the main show page. If you see the image then everything is as it should be. If you see no image the report back here and we'll try and get to the bottom of it.

I just have a plain white background. I do have enable backgrounds checked and have tried it with Firefox 7 and IE 9.
Strange, i'm using Firefox 7 and have no trouble seeing backgrounds.
Does anyone know why this may be happening to grimsoul?
Maybe it's because he didn't write anything in 'about me' in edit profile.
when I did wrote there something , the backgrounds also appeared...
strange, but true...
maybe this works for grimsoul too?
