The Pirate Bay

The Pirate Bay Intewrnet Piracy Trial starts today.

This maybe why various members have reported trouble with The Pirate Bay trackers as Sweden seems to be puting the hammer down on The Pirate Bay.

The press conference was hilarious and the main prosecutor doesn't have a bloody clue, he's going to get shot down badly.

Got this from PC World blog put up four hours ago.

Two days into The Pirate Bay trial, it looks as though the file-sharing site may come away victorious, despite many odds. Half of the charges brought against the bit torrent file sharing Web site have been dropped. Gone are the charges that The Pirate Bay has assisted in copyright infringement; now all that's left are claims of "assisting making available" bit torrents for illegal download.

Prosecutors cannot use .torrent files as evidence against The Pirate Bay, as it was ruled that many of the screenshots used in the trial offered no clear correlation between the Web site and illegal activity. This blasted a hole in the prosecution and it had to withdraw all complaints regarding copyright infringement.

But the trial isn't over yet, so while supporters of the site have cause to celebrate, The Pirate Bay is still not out of stormy waters.

The major label plaintiffs--Universal, Warner Bros, MGM, EMI, 20th Century Fox, Colombia Pictures, and Sony BMG--are hungry to shut The Pirate Bay down, have claimed damages of more than $13 million. They say that "the operators of the Pirate Bay and others like them are criminals who profit handsomely by facilitating the distribution of millions of copyrighted creative works and files protected under the law."

I am curious to see if the judge in that trial will look at the letters they post (something I find hilarious, if you havent read them yet you should) and take into consideration that they not only disregard the letters but the post them and there smart ass replies.

It would appear that the Bay is down again or has been taken down? Hope they hang that judge from the highest building with a very weak piece of string. No conflict of interest there ...Right! He only belongs to 2 groups who are fighting for tougher co-right laws.

I just noticed I was getting a 'working' reply in utorrent on the dollhouse release from the eztv site on the following tracker...

http://torrent-download.to:5869/announce

To assist in seeding while prtby trackers are down I will be adding it to all my eztv and vtv downloads, along with this additional public tracker...

Fiber problems @ the PB
The site and tracker were down during most of the night and morning due to a broken fiber connection.

They seem to be down again.

Can't keep a good site down. Back up again and may it long continue to offer TV and movies to all. I went to the cinema with my wife last week. Cost me nearly 50 with the crappy plastic hot dogs, popcorn and sweets. Overpriced, uncomfortable seats and bad airconditioning. When I lived in the Middle East pirate Bay was my only access to British TV shows which was a godsend. As my nephew would say "PB is AWSOME!"

I would love to be in court for this case. I'm getting up there in age and I can remember the music industry ripping us off and they get away with it.

First I bought records, then I had to buy 8 tracks. Soon I had to buy cassett tapes. Then I had to buy CD's. Now they want me to buy MP3's.

How many times do they want me to buy the same Beatle music I love?

The music industry and video industry should be on trial
