This is for fans and supporters of the beautiful game. **************************************************************** One rule you must declare your Team or Club allegiance but there must be no 'having a go' at other (rival) teams. What are your teams home colours. When you know there is a game being televised let us all know. Give us results of the more important games in your country, or how your team is doing. Do you have any 'hot' football news let us all know. OK. My allegiance is to Manchester United.(English Premier League) who play in red shirts and white shorts our home ground is Old Trafford, Manchester, England. ********************************************************* Yesterday was the draw for the Quarter Finals of the English FA Cup but of the 8 places only 3 are definitely filled. There are 11 teams still involved in replays to find the other 5 places. (Those three teams through to the Quarter-Finals are Chelsea; Everton; and Manchester United). |

Mauricio Pellegrino is confident Liverpool have the strength to push Manchester United all the way in the Premier League title race. The Anfield first team coach has looked on from the touchlines alongside manager Rafa Benitez as the Reds have relinquished their hold on top spot. United's stunning recent surge, which includes a Premier League record 13 clean sheets, has seen them move clear at the summit. Pellegrino has title-winning experience of his own having won La Liga three times during his playing career with Valencia and Barcelona and believes the race is far from run as Liverpool look to end their 19-year wait for the league crown. *****************************************************************Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney will be on the substitutes' bench for Manchester United's clash with Fulham on Wednesday. The striker suffered a hamstring strain during United's home victory over Wigan last month and has missed seven games. It was thought that he could return for the FA Cup tie at Derby on Sunday but Ferguson opted not to rush him back. The United manager has been pleased with Rooney's progress over the last couple of days and intends to select him in his squad to face the Cottagers. **************************************************************** Brazilian legend Zico is adamant that Luiz Felipe Scolari should have been given until the end of the season before he was sacked. The former Chelsea boss was axed at the start of February after just over seven months in the Stamford Bridge hotseat. But Zico, who is now manager of Russian side CSKA Moscow, believes the decision to sack his fellow countryman was far too hasty. The 55-year-old, who was the star of the Brazil team that many classed as the best side to have never lifted the World Cup in 1982, insists that his beliefs are backed up by the fact that the West London club are still fighting on three fronts. |

Manchester United played their game in hand this evening and comfortably beat Fulham 3 - 0 (scorers Scholes; Berbatov and Rooney) to put themselves 5 points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Barclays Premier League. They also extended their record of League 'clean sheets' to 14 games. |

My team is the mighty blues CHELSEA we play at Stamford Bridge our home ground in London Blue is the colour of our home strip. We are having a bit of turmoil at the club at the moment with the change of managers from Big phil Scolari to Gus Hiddink but hopefully we will sort it out soon and win something this season. I Named my daughter after my team she is 12 years old now. Quark I think that Man Utd will win the league this year and maybe one more but good luck for the Quintruplete it would be good to see a club win that just for the good of the game. Good thread. |

Liverpool star Steven Gerrard will not make his return to action against Manchester City this weekend. It was suggested earlier this week that Gerrard could make a surprise return from his hamstring injury for Sunday's clash with City. However, Reds boss Rafa Benitez has confirmed Gerrard will not be risked against Mark Hughes's men and he is unsure if the midfield dynamo will be fit in time to face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League next week. *****************************************************************Gary Neville has agreed a new contract with Manchester United that will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2010. The veteran right-back has been part of the Red Devils' first-team for the past 17 years after making his debut against Torpedo Moscow in 1992. Neville was forced to battle his way back to full fitness after missing almost the entire 2007/08 season following a serious ankle injury. The 34-year-old club captain may not be able to play in every match for the Premier League and European champions but he remains an integral member of their record-breaking defence, which has now kept 14 successive top-flight clean sheets. *************************************************************** Lyon star Karim Benzema has refused to talk about his future, but his president Jean Michel Aulas has confirmed Manchester City failed with a bid to sign him in January. Lyon face Barcelona next week in the UEFA Champions League, and that has led to further intense speculation in the Spanish press about the striker's future with both Real Madrid and Barca long-term admirers of the French striker. The 20-year-old would not be drawn on the rumours, saying: "My departure is not topical. "I am at a great club and we will see what happens after the two matches with Barcelona. "People are asking questions, but I don't wont to get mad even if I make a decision to leave in June." |

Fulham and Manchester United will soon be starting their tilt at another place in the Semi's. Whilst tommorrow Middlesborough take on Everton for the third place in the Semis. Arsenal host Burnley for the right to play Hull City in the last of the Quarter Finals. (This being delayed by many drawn games and replays needed.) I'll report back the results as they occur. |

I think it dilutes the 'special quality' of the cup even further by holding the semi's at wembley. Reaching wembley(in the final)was the 'icing on the cake', but now you only have to reach the semi to play there.Also it is geographically unfair to make fans of non-london teams travel those distances at greater expense,especially during a recession. Unfortunately the money-grabbers at the 'sweet FA' don't give a damn about the fans,they never have & never will! Take the FA Cup final back to the Millenium Stadium. |
||
8 months ago |
N'Ged No, it's not back to the Millenium Stadium that's not been there long enough to say take back. The Final is back where it belongs in the National Stadium. But why not have the Semis held at the Millenium Stadium and as previously leave Wembley for the Final. Better yet have the semis held on a neutral ground 'halfway' between the competing teams as used to be the system. What is the point of making two teams (and their supporters) who are less than 100 miles apart in the north-west travel to the capital to play a semi-final except money grabbing. |

Man United have a job on tonight to overcome a 2-2 draw at home and the fact that FC Porto have never lost at home in the European Cup. Maybe tonight will see the end of that record. Man.Utd's defense will be bolstered by the return of Rio Ferdinand and this could be a prime factor in the game. Arsenal should have it easier (against Villareal) as they got an away goal in the first leg draw and play at home tonight. Liverpool will come to a standstill today to mark the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. The bells of the city's two cathedrals and its civic buildings will ring out in memory of the 96 football fans who died at Sheffield Wednesday's stadium two decades ago. In Nottingham there will be a two-minute silence in the city's Old Market Square beginning at 3.06pm. Sheffield will mark the anniversary of Britain's worst sporting disaster quietly. After consultation with the Liverpool families' organisations, there will be no formal ceremony at Wednesday's ground RIP the 96...You'll Never Walk Alone. |

As a Man.Utd fan I am disgusted with the referee. He has reduced the standard of the Final because IMHO at least 3 penalties were not awarded to Chelsea and the sending off of a Barce player for no good reason not to mention a Barce player unjustifiably received a yellow card which will also exclude him from the Final. Much as I do not like seeing Chelsea win I also feel that they should have been our opponents in the Final. Other than tonights farce only Premier League teams are capable of putting out other Premier League teams. Rant over. |
||

Well it looks like Manchester United are set to retain the English Premier League Title for the THIRD sucessive season, after their win this evening. (United would have to lose both their remaining games and Liverpool win both of theirs for United not be Champions). This would make a record 11th Premier League Title (out of 17!) and would share the record of 18 Top Division Championships with Liverpool. |

North Korea qualified for the World Cup finals for the first time since 1966 after they claimed the point they needed against Saudi Arabia. The North join their neighbours South Korea in qualifying from Group 2 of the Asian qualifiers after the 0-0 draw in Riyadh. Victory for the Saudis, would have taken them through whilst defeat would have seen them miss out on third spot. But it was North Korea who held on to claim a memorable draw, which means Saudi now finish third and Iran miss out completely and are out of the World Cup. Third place in the group means Saudi will now play-off against the third placed team from the other qualifying group, for the right to meet the Oceania group winner New Zealand for a place at the World Cup finals. The other third place team, who will face Saudi, is confirmed as Bahrain after they defeated Uzbekistan 1-0. |

If anyone in the UK has a problem viewing via the 'red button' as frequently this is not available until transmission of the game begins. I find it simpler to key 301 and alternate up to 302 and back down to find which channel BBC are using to screen it. I hardly ever use the red button as I say I find it far easier to key the channel. Often you will find sport there (the low 300's) that is not widely advertised as well. |

A game worthy of a final, USA led 0-2 at half-time & typically Brazil came back with 3 second half goals. The Confederations Cup has been a worthy tournament this year & some of the teams that have taken part & who might also compete in the World Cup 2010 in South Africa, could gain a slight advantage over the teams they face next year having experienced the conditions this tournament. |
