Oz without competition. I'll just copy the review I wrote for it: Absolutely amazing in every way, from the acting to the storylines to the whole feel of the show. You get sucked into the world the show has created and you get emotionally involved with the characters and see that there are no 100ood guys and no 100ad guys. I think this show is the absolute best at showing three dimensional characters. This show is unique in the way it is presented. Regular characters and main characters get killed all the time, no one is safe and you're always on edge waiting for what's going to happen. You can't predict anything. Viewers must be warned though that there is a lot of strong language, violence and nudity. I believe that these are a must and what make the show so good at portraying a realistic environment. Whether you think it portrays accurately a real maximum security prison is debatable, but I believe that it captured the feeling of one really well. As a viewer you experience the emotional turmoil the characters go through, so this really is not an easy show to watch from an emotional point of view, but it's really worth it. There is something I want to address though, and that is the rape scenes. A lot of people have the idea that all this show about is rape and violence and that is completely not true. It's true that the violence is a very big part of the show, but it's not what the show is about, it's about life inside a maximum security prison and violence is a fact the show cannot avoid. As for the rape scenes, through the entire 6 season run of the show, the rape scenes in it can be counted on one hand only. There are mentions of rape of course, but you rarely see it, and when you do it's never graphic. This show is one of the absolute best shows ever made and should be watched. |

I should give the Metalocalypse the thumbs up because this music is very heavy metal and it almost killed the Dethklok themselves, but it almost got them injured to pieces of death. |

Wow, I guess I didn't realize how much I now hate to write long dissertations, lol. Not giving reviews but my favorites, for various (an apparent reasoning, I would think) are: 24 (not last season tho), Heroes (not this season tho), South Park, Eli Stone, The Emporer's New School, Craig Ferguson, (old): Invasion (sadly, too soon cancelled, the Man From U.N.C.L.E., Wild Wild West and Voyagers! And sadly, you figure out I'm old... sigh... |

babylon5 it was visual book with an introduction the pilot movie, the background and the mystery in the first 2 seasons subplots and character studies, a time line which was consistent through out the series, the conclusion of the mystery the climax of the story, an end and an epilogue brilliantly done |

Babylon 5 The first TV show, especially SciFi, that had the characters grow, bend, twist, even break, with time and experiences. As you got to know them better, their hidden flaws surfaced, just like in real life. Then you could see how circumstance molded them, for better or worse, based on the character's strengths and weaknesses. First TV show I ever saw that did that. |

I would have to say star gate sg-1. Aside from the fact that I love explosions, big guns, and crazy-bad aliens, I almost feel as though the characters (the original 4 on the show) are best friends in their off-the-set lives as well. |

Favorite TV show? Farscape. In its style, art direction, acting, writing, truly alien aliens (courtesy of Jim Henson's Creature Shop), and gut-wrenching twists, Farscape stands alone, for myself and millions of fans around the world. I beg to differ with captsheridan, but, BSG was not the second sci-fi series to have a long run (although truncated by a premature cancellation due to network ownership financial troubles), an overall story arc, and characters that changed, grew, and were even killed off over the course of the series. That honor belongs to Farscape. In fact, it could be argued that much of the premise that the re-imagined BSG set out to do, and succeeded at brilliantly I think, owes a great deal to Farscape. In its narrative, the contrasts of the characters from season to season, and the twists and turns in its mythology, there are many simlaritites to the way Farscape and BSG were executed. As for the management/ownership of the SciFi Channel, if not for the sale from Vivendi, and its ultimate connection to NBC, it is quite possible that BSG never would have happened at all. After the previous ownership (Vivendi) axed Farscape, there was a concerted effort to do away with "space shows" altogether on the SciFi Channel. Thank the gods they changed. |

These days I think I will have to say Breaking Bad. Because it has most elements that I require to be entertained. I just love the dark humor,the surreal atmosphere,brilliant acting.(Bryan Cranston got an emmy for his role :) the characters are interesting and believable. The series have action,dark comedy,and a fair share of drama in that under the surface it is a brilliant personality study. Also a vital ingredient is madness.It adds uncertainty to what is gonna happen next. The cinematography and directing are also excellent If you are tired of all the mainstream shallow series that are too predictable,and have wooden performances by perfect looking actors; maybe this is something for you. |

I will say Dexter :0) Most of all, because the show is about to return :0) cant wait. The show have really hynotised me. I almost scream, when an episode ends, Because it's so exciting and nerve-racking.. I love the way Michael Hall plays a serial killer, and a loving step dad. (soon with his own child) |
||

I second Dexter fie. The complexity of his character is outstanding. The idea of exploring the "roots" of a serial killer, and how and why he is what he is, is a fantastic concept. Especially one who works in law enforcement. What a perfect enigmatic juxtaposition. Also, there's that sense of vigilante justice: no matter how warped it may be. In some ways Dexter is "good," in others he is just as bad as those he is killing. And yet he provides a service to himself to gratify his desires, and a service to the community at large by permanently removing undesirable people. Finally, like any other good show, it just has great writing, character development, and depth of the characters. Even the sub plots keep you interested and wanting more. While there is a lot sex, violence, and language, if you haven't seen it, and can tolerate that sort of thing, you need to check it out. |

My favourite show to date is Alias. It kept me riveted throughout the full series. I just could never get enough of the mystery the turnarounds the rebounds, the gadgets, the girl power. Jennifer Garner playes so many different characters in the same series. I really miss Alias. |

Was "Lost" going to be too scary or too dramatic? |

@cabutchikas - at times, a little of both - you wouldn't be able to understand anything if you started watching anywhere but at the beginning. The best place to get a good idea of what the show is about is at: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411008/plotsummary - and/or - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_(TV_series) The show does have a lot to do with time travel along with everything else and there are clues to the beginning-middle and end and visa-versa throughout the whole series so you may get hooked enough to want to buy all 6 seasons. In my opinion - just good imaginative writing put together on the screen very well. |

Sorry icarus7z7 but you should have referred cabutchikas to http://sharetv.org/shows/lost where we have plenty of info on the show. Not to mention searching the word 'Lost' in the search box above to find many threads discussing the show. We do not advocate sending members to other sites and especially not as the IMDB info is what we use anyway. |
