bewitched the one Darren had to quit for health reasons replaced him with new bloke charlie angels farra fawcett quit some other broad took her place |
4 months ago |
hey capt! go ahead and help yourself to the kopi luwak! David Palmer from 24 |
4 months ago |
@capt Dick Sargent replaced Dick York but played the same character Darrin Stephens so does not count.Neither does Jill Munroe played by Farrah Fawcett-Majors because she came back to the show so was not killed off. @appara ROFL you should have been a comedienne! Henry Blake was not the lead character in MASH which was the reason actor McLean Stevenson left the show so does not count. It may seem picky but I think for anyone to qualify from 24 it would have to be Jack Bauer they kill off,so david palmer...close but no Kopi Luwak you'll be pleased to hear ;-) |
4 months ago |
@appara Tom Quinn wasn't killed off.If you get any more wrong it qualifies you for a free cup of Kopi Luwak LoL I should State that by 'killed off' I mean dead and it has to be the main person in the show that the show revolves around. |
4 months ago |
LMAO! @ged....you nit-pickin', little shite! here's a 2fer deal! Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Denny on Grey's and then John Winchester on Supernatural! and those, my friend, were sad days in tv land! thats gotta let me off the hook! ROFL |

and for your pickin' pleasure (Georgia)George Lass from Dead Like Me :D |
4 months ago |
@appara 1/Jeffrey Dean Morgan was never the lead in any of those shows (weeds included) Stop thinking with your heart, use your head. 2/Georgia Lass...No way am I giving you that one clever clogs Rofl and this is a family site & the use of profanity should be kept to a necessary minimum,Your punishment is a full cafetiere of Kopi Luwak & I will watch you drink every drop! ;-) |

A lot of the lead characters in Oz were killed off. Also, one of the sisters in Charmed. |
4 months ago |
Shannon Doherty was the character from Charmed. i do believe jiji87 wins the first cup of Kopi Luwak! |

Woohoo! I'm so honored! My dreams have finally come true *sobs and waves and ppl in this thread while holding cup* |

*waving lighter side to side as a tribute to jiji as she accepts her award* @ ged...how's about Keith Carradine (Wild Bill) in Deadwood? |
4 months ago |
@jiji & @appara I have never seen Oz so I will take your collective word for it(was the main lead character killed off?) @jiji Take a trip to the 'How do you like your coffee thread & I am sure appara will take the greatest of pleasure in giving you a cup of Kopi Luwak ;-) @appara CORRECT! Shannon Doherty's character is the right type of answer I was looking for...but not Wild Bill. |
4 months ago |
well, thank ya very much ged...but, i just gave the actor's name....jiji was the corect answerererer! |
4 months ago |
gedmen, Oz didn't have just one main character, it had many and a good percentage of them were killed off over the run of the show. But ppl could argue that Tobias Beecher was the heart of the show, and no, he wasn't killed. *bows head in shame* But I still got the Charmed guess right, so yay! |

Oh! I have another one! That tennis player on the L word. She was one of the main characters. I don't watch the show, but my sister does, and I remember how shocked she was when she saw the episode. |
4 months ago |
@jiji well done on Shannon Doherty,I don't think I can give you the tennis player from the L-Word,I know it is an ensemble cast but I would argue she was on the 'second tier'(for want of a better description) of the cast, with Jennifer Biel as the lead character...Am I right? |

dag nabbit! you're are a hard one to please Ged! Grandpa Walton (William Geer) The Waltons? |
4 months ago |
@appara sorry but John Boy was the lead character in the Waltons. |

Valerie starring Valerie Harper. She left after problems with the producers on the show & they said the character had died. The characters sister-in-law came to help out her brother and his sons & moves in. Actress Sandy Duncan played a pivital role and the show was renamed 'The Hogan Family'. It stayed on the air for about five years. @gedmen what the devil is kopi luwak? |
4 months ago |
i did remember valerie but not the hogan family. |

@tash kopi luwak is geds special weapon . check out the coffee thread. lol |

Kopi Luwak or Civet coffee is coffee made from coffee berries which have been eaten by and passed through the digestive tract of the Asian Palm Civet. The civets eat the berries, but the beans inside pass through their system undigested.Vietnam has a similar type of coffee, called weasel coffee, which is made from coffee berries which have been defecated by local weasels. @tash I bet you wish you hadn't asked now lol |

OMG!! You wanted to give me THAT as a present?!?! I remember I once got an e-mail about this kind of coffee, and it said that it was very expensive too lol. |

OK guys how about Dr Who. He has died Nine times and the series is still rollin on!! |
4 months ago |
Valerie would be the perfect answer... Valerie Harper was the shows star, her character was killed off & replaced with a different character played by Sandy Duncan & the show went on to be a success. Well done tash, everyone else should use her answer as the template of the correct answer for the thread. |

How about Capt.Pike Star Trek The Original Series he disappeared before the show got started properly and Capt Kirk took over for 7 Seasons and as they say the rest is history. Not the 'main' character but I still miss Lt.Natasha Yar, Star Trek the Next Generation. Worf is no substitute now is he? And then there was Kes in Star Trek Voyager, mind you Seven of Nine was not a bad replacement.he he he. |

William Boone from Earth: Final Conflict |
4 months ago |
@nog John Belushi is/was the actor & not a lead character. @Blkhole Dr Who is the same character & does he die or regenerate? @iancham Did Freema play the same character in both...I think not. @Quark Pike returned,so does not count. Iceman Boone was replaced by Liam & Liam was replaced by Renee, but both Boone & Liam returned briefly in the final season. |
4 months ago |
@iancham Freema Agyeman played Adeola Oshodi in both Rise of the Cybermen & The Age of Steel and was the cousin of Martha Jones which loosely explains the physical similarity. |

In 8 Simple rules, the dad passed away, and he was the lead character. The show continued after he died, but I don't know if it was successful or not. |

@capt Henry Rollins returned to the character of Virgil Tibbs on numerous occasions including the 7th season & surely you must agree that the main character in The Avengers has always been John Steed, sorry mate no Kopi Luwak for you LoL |
4 months ago |
@jiji good one ,it ran for two more seasons so I will give you that one...would you like another cup of coffee LoL @capt See, a main lead character that died or was replaced given by jiji |
4 months ago |
But everyone tuned in to see Dianna Rigg in those tight outfits. |

@ joker I can't argue with that ;-) |

Lady Marjorie Bellamy in Upstairs, Downstairs - she was killed on the Titanic and the series continued on. |
4 months ago |
@tash I would say Mr Hudson was the main lead character in Upstairs,Downstairs...Played by Gordon Jackson |
4 months ago |
@ged Gordon Jackson won an Emmy for supporting actor in Upstairs, Downstairs |
4 months ago |
@tash Thats a case of the US cocking up the catergories again,He was nominated for best actor at the British Amateur Film & Television Awards(BAFTA's).I think am right on this matter,if you do a wiki search for upstairs, downstairs and look up the cast, tell me who is top of the tree...Gordon Jackson! |
4 months ago |
@tash,Upstairs,Downstairs is my favorite UK drama series,I have every episode and have watched the entire series at least 20 times. Hudson is my favorite character,Sarah runs a close second, what are we going to do with Uncle Arthur! |

I loved Upstairs, Downstairs -- but, they did not show all of the episodes on PBS in NY. I was very young at the time and followed it faithfully. Over the years I've seen many programs on PBS, however, Upstairs, Downstairs was easily my favorite. |
4 months ago |
@gedmen,she was a title character,it was devastating when Mrs.Bellamy died. @tash,I bought it on dvd,I'm going to start watching it again.lol |
4 months ago |
@nog & @tash As you are both fans, this site may interest you,www.updown.org.uk/ It gives some interesting titbits about the history of the show & why all the shows were not shown on US tv. As for the issue regarding Lady Marjorie Bellamy, because it was more an ensemble cast the show did not revolve solely around Lady M,so I have to rule(as originator of the thread)as a not exactly what I was looking for, although I will credit you for a really good try & bringing back some good memories of a show I had almost forgotten about :-) |

@ appara Yes Shannon Doherty as Prue in Charmed was the first to come to my mind |

Marissa in The O.C. killed off, but the show went on one or two seasons and her boyfriend got another romantic pair, that the audience really liked. but, the best: E.R.: just take a pick on many major chacacters. One of them really recently died. |
2 months ago |
@aprevidelli I don't think Marissa was the main character in the O.C. Anthony Edwards qualifies. Who else do you refer to? |
2 months ago |
@gedmen how come? I mean...the show was about the four adolescent friends: Ryan, Seth, Marissa and Summer. Mekhi Phifer, as Dr. Pratt; Paul McCrane as Dr. Romano and I guess you could say Sharif Atkins as Dr. Gallant, but he wasn´t really a main character... |
2 months ago |
@aprevidelli I think you just answered the O.C. question, she was part of an ensemble cast & not the main star. Same with the ER docs all ensemble, but as mentioned before Anthony Edwards was slightly elevated from the ensemble cast. |

dirty den den eastenders killed in the canal born again 15 years later |
2 months ago |
@eviltedhed As popular as dirty den was,he doesen't count because he was part of the ensemble cast, although I would say he may have been cinsidered by many as the 'lifeblood of the show' for a time. |
