For me: Star Trek: TOS, MASH, X-Files, but especially Twin Peaks, The Prisoner, and Lost. The latter three to me, are the best of the best. Twin Peaks and the Prisoner were years ahead of their time, Lost is in another category completely. Of course, this is coming from a guy who still laughs at every Road Runner cartoon, and every episode of Gilligans Island.

Dark Angel by far the best.
Even though it only ran for two seasons.
Jessica Alba, and Michael Weathersby made the show great.
I just wish they had done one more season or at least a movie to wrap up the major story lines.

at 1 point my fave show was las vegas, then it ended without finishing, if you know what I mean! now my fave show which I watch over & over again is Shameless, although I watched CSI Miami season 1-5 three times over, so I suppose I like that too!!

for me it's a tie between Oz, The Wire, and Dexter. I can't decide which is my favorite, even though Oz holds a special place in my heart since it was the first show I ever obsessed about lol.

Yes I agree whether or not it is good or bad is a point of view. This whole thread is a list of point of views. But I think saying that it has a lot seasons and is all over the world does not equate to it being good is a fact. It may be good, it may not, but how popular a show is not necessarily an indicator of how good it is.

This was so far only a 6-part 2008 series but it's coming back this year. There is just *nothing* that can compare to it. Blatant and continual sexual/scatalogical dialogue and events, but really sharp, witty and ironic. Very accurate observation - I *remember* life being like this at 15.

I like Star trek in all it's forms.
I also like other shows like Greys Anatomy and The Cleaner.
I just happen to think Star Trek is the best show. I don't mind if you don't like it, that's your choice but as far as this discussion goes it is open to every one to say what they think is the best show.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Superjail!, Metlaocalypse and some anime I like are the best show ever because they're amazing, awesome and very perfect, the best show ever :)

The ultimate punishment for 'youthful indiscretions' was not being allowed to watch it. Nothing has come close to that since, even before I got a VCR.

in my opinion the best show ever released is Rome.
it is something different.. no dragging, no adapting, no inconsistency.
the show tells that something which is between legend and history. it is committed to the historical truth yet every episode surprises you.
is something very different to any other show.

The Wire definitely deserves a nomination, and if you were only allowed to judge off the pilot episode then V (2009) is the best.
