I Am Legend - TV Series

I think the potential for a TV series is high or rather the framework of the movie is a perfect fit for tv.

The main Character was dealing with the virus in New York for 3 years before he was alone. At Least i think he was . My point is that there has got to be plenty of stories a writing team could put together. Plenty of social issues to explore.

Does ShareTV have a platform to where TV watchers can petition for a TV series and the TV producers can get an idea of the potential demand for a show?

On the flipside, has it been unheard of that producers may float an idea to a site like this with so much activity and knowledge about tv, to get vibe about how their show might be greeted or could be tweaked?

Thoughts?

Think it would be a great series, if ever produced.
But which version of the movie to use as a basis, the one with Will Smith or the one with Charleston Heston?
Maybe a combination of both?

Think it would make a good show if the writing is there.

> 5 years ago

If the writers strike ends, I have found that very few movies transform to decent Tv shows
IE planet of the apes( original not the crummy remake) was not all that good I think it lasted 1 season maybe and 1/2
I know the sara connnor works well but it is very rare.

as a matter of fact I Dont recall any movies to TV other than the above mentioned that has been a success

@sebmcc

It is wrong for you to hog the thread with that number of postings(15) which could have been condensed in one posting to show all.

Please do not repeat this type of activity again. Thankyou.

@Julinee

Yes you are right

The Movie was released in 1992 and the TV series started in 1997.

Wow..that thought never crossed my mind. Mostly because I did not think the movie was all that. I was disappointed. However upon thinking about it for a few minutes, I can see potential there. Maybe it would make a better TV Show..???

@sebmcc I bow to you I forgot all those series where based on movies

cheers mates

Quark,
Sorry for the separate postings, but they just kept coming one after another after I posted the previous one.

Nakara,
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a horrible movie, became a great TV series.

Capt,

Thank you for the compliment, and thank you for bring up the question. It brought up a lot of childhood memories in front of the TV. Kinda sad when you think the of thousands of hours I've spent in front the TV. I should have at least MA in RTF.

Quark,

What does AHFA AHGBG mean?

I disagree.
It is hard to make show without cast, only on one man in empty city.

Toh,

The movie had one man in the city 3 years later.
Before that there were all kinds of people dealing with all kinds of shenanigans.

If you saw the movie, you saw the remnants of all kinds of activity. Plus there were flash backs. I would give Josh Whedon or JJ Abrams a shot at this. A good cast, a good budget for SFX, it could be a good series.

Either you'd have to shoot like the time all the people go infected (but that would be rather depressing because we know where it leads to).
Or you could change the story of the movie by having more survivors (maybe in another location) struggeling to survive with everyone gone... (but that would be similar to LOST, wouldn't it? I still have to wath that show)

Well not everyone got/gets infected and the infections did not happen overnight.
There were survivors.
A lot of people were immune and escaped.
Some were immune and got attacked.
There could be good escape episodes with chase scenes and rescues. Good civilian and military fighting episodes showing off latest technology.

Also, you could expand the premise from staying in New York and trying to find a cure to traveling the country/planet to find the cure,survivors/colony and a weapon to fight off the monsters.

Can have a dog as a companion and perhaps self actuating artificially intelligent hologram.

Hmmm... I don't like the idea of the hologram, but a group of survivors traveling the country, searching for a cure...
Sounds tempting!

@julinee

Doesn't that sound a familiar storyline core?

I am sure there was a Show with that sort of premise but I cannot think of it right now.
Help anybody.

@quark
It does, you're right, but I can't think of it either.

I always love it when there's sort of a 'crew' on a show, if you know what I mean...

With more survivals it will be "We are Legends".
As far as i know, book dont have woman and kid, only main character, that was whole point.

@toh

Books are hardly ever recreated on screen as the authors original story.
It's a shame really. The books always seem better.

thats why they always say based on a novel by a certain writer

Well the reason that he was a legend is because of what he did for humanity in the end.

Part of the premise of the movie was that he "thought" he was alone in terms of humans. The only thing that kept him going was trying to find a cure for the vamps and the hope that there were stills humans on earth that he could protect.

Well, they could eleborate more on the "infected." it was obvious there was some kind of social sturcture and they were able to "love." This was my guess why "infected" came after the "chief" jupmed to the light... Also it is obvious they were quite intelegent....

> 5 years ago

@Quark was the series you were thinking of survivors, an old UK series about a plague that wiped out most of the country, they all banded together to survive
