well, you know I'm a hippie, as well as loving the possible future of a harmonious humanity that Star Trek presents. At home, when I'm confronted with chaos, my reaction depends a great deal upon whether or not anyone else is going to be affected, especially if they happen to be depending on me to keep them safe and clear of whatever chaos they don't want. IF it were just me, I'd adapt. That's why I will keep track of and follow the rules for the privileges I have in my life, to a certain extent. However, there does come a point at which even I have to just toss it all to the wind and see where it falls. So I guess I'm on the fence.

Well I think it's pretty clear to me that wouldn't work, basically from my lifes experience people are too self interested and shortsighted. So I am pretty sure i would still get shot.

Fear of the law, and the consequences of breaking the law is a protection in a way, keeping people from crossing a line they might otherwise cross. Plus if I had a gun that increases the risk of accidental injury, which does not make me feel any safer.

@odo, over here they are very happy that you want a dog. still have a home check and a couple of follow ups to make sure you and the dog are happy together but they prefer to rehome than put to sleep.
