In the past - when I was working - I always had decent cars - such as Mercedes and top of the range Hondas. Now I have a pathetic Citroen Xsara 1.4 - it's rubbish. If you had loads of money what car would you have and why? |

"If you had loads of money what car would you have and why?" My dream car is a Austin-Martin "Vanquish",I would also go for a Mini-Cooper,decked out racing model. |
> 1 year ago |
I have Fiat Sienna 1.6 but if I could I would have a Toyota or a Honda automatic. Manual never more!!! My next car will be automatic! |
> 1 year ago |
i have 2 kids and 2 dogs, also seems like there are 2 friends each for the 2 kids, so i drive a dodge caravan. i have been considering a 'saturn' as i hear that they are more resistant to dents from hockey pucks and soccer balls. (but after reading the nogds9 post...a little mini would give me some quiet time on a sunday drive) |
> 1 year ago |
@Appara i work it the plant where your van was made ! odo had to find a 2nd job here on earth. love odo. |
> 1 year ago |
this is my third caravan....and none of them have ever given me a problem....keep up the good work! (i will probably have to continue with the vans until my kids leave home...did i say 'until?' might have to change that to 'if' lol |
> 1 year ago |
I have 4 kids and I have been driving the minivans since 1996. We moved recently so now I have a little red dakota, yes I am a real dodge fan. I want to get back to a vehicle I can walk around inside. The new caravans have a table option. I like the rotating chairs in the middle row because I have a disabled child so I think I can more easily place him in that kind of seat. For a handicap modification they want an extra $10,000. That is too much. I will wait about 2 years to buy the 2008 Caravan. I am also thinking about the Scion B but they have not depreciated. Being disabled myself I need to economize. |
> 1 year ago |
Oh, if I could I would have an electric, or whatever did not burn gas. A gravity car, one that runs fast downhill to wind up the rubberband for uphill. Someone about a mile for me drives the Smart, I like that, it can be stored in the minivan. Yes, James, the car you make is the best family car out there, too bad the (Star Trek) Voyager is gone. They should have have kept the small one and dumped the big one. IMHO |
> 1 year ago |
I like my 5 speed 4 banger Hyundai Sante Fe. Next year when it is paid off my hubby has promised me a mustang convertable. I don't like Fords but I guess for my 30th birhtday I must accept! LOL |
> 1 year ago |
I drive a Ford Explorer as of now If I could afford it definitely a gas guzzling Hummer 12 cylinder v8 with all decked out with every toy imaginable only way to go in snow country and guess what I dont give chyt about the left loonies and their global warming or carbon footprint that my friends is the biggest urban legend rip off of time AHFA |

@mrsjerry...is the trunk going to be big enough for all your kidlins? lol |

nagila nog My brother had a mini-cooper SR all fitted out for racing, he had it no more than 2 weeks when he wrapped it around a tree. I came across the wrecked car but there was no sign of my brother, as it turns out he was fine but he scared the living daylights out of me that day and I have never like minis since. AHFA |

As for me I have a V8 Holden Commodore. Not like the capt because I have no regard for the ozone layer but because we pull a caravan with it from time to time. But just between you and me, I like having the extra grunt lol |
> 1 year ago |
@capt...hmmmmm LOL my son just walked by and suggested a youtube video...its a really good ad for honda... search: rube goldberg honda commercial |

@appara The mr has a 15 passenger van for use when we all travel. I would never stoop to putting the kids in the boot well not while driving anyway.lol |
> 1 year ago |
@appara couldnt fit into one of those I am 6 4 bad knees that is why I drive explorers no. the other car I was thinking of if I had a couple of million to waste on a toy would be a 69 charger with full blown 426 hemi in it blue printed balanced planed 2 1100 cfms holly carbs eldrabroc high rise manifolds electronic ignition headers 3/4 inch balanced cam an headers should run over 800 hsp to the the back wheels and get about 7mpg in town and maybe 15 on the highway and cruise at easy 160 mph in 3rd car up to 250 in 4th now that is a car mates |
> 1 year ago |
Nagila Cap'n Just so your belief is not totally shattered. You are a right wing loonie. LOL. AHFA |
> 1 year ago |
@captsheridan, Had a "69"Charger when I was 18yo.440 dual quads,50's rear 60's front,4 speed Hurst tranny,Could lift the front end in 3 gears and throw fire out the exhaust.Gas at that time was only 30 cents a gallon. Drive a 1995 Toyota Landcruiser and a 2004 GMC 2500HD now.Back a few years ago when my partner was alive,we had a 1994 Hummer H1,a lot of fun in the mountains,if the trail was wide enough we could go anywhere. |
> 1 year ago |
I'd love a Hummer, but what does it use, about 8 mile to the gallon! I'm stuck with my little ford fiesta, which is ok cos the islands only about 40km x 20km, but i think a little mini cooper would look much better! |
> 1 year ago |
@sam1980,the Hummer had a 6.2 litre diesel engine and got about 24 miles to the gallon. We only used it on our trips to the mountains and the mines therein. It had only 10,000 miles on it when we sold it 10 years later. |
> 1 year ago |
i drive an Isuzu Trooper, great for towing the horse trailer and driving in fields at horse shows, but before that i had a black saab convertible. It's still my favourite car, had to change it when child no3 came along as it was only a four seater. If i win the lottery I'll buy another as my spare car and not let the muddy children in it lol |
> 1 year ago |
i havean older bmw z3. but i dont drive myself very often. |
> 1 year ago |
Nagila Captsheridan - I know where you are coming from and I love big powerful cars but we should be a bit more responsible. I appreciate that where you live you must have more than a 'city car' but you don't need to go overboard and buy a behemoth. AHFA (Hope you are well and the weather is getting better) |
> 1 year ago |
What I have now is nothing since I sold my car before moving to "the big city". If I could have any car I wanted it would be a personal thing. Back around 77 or so I had a chance to buy a 1967 deep blue (almost black) Pontiac GTO back when that meant something. My (probably wiser) father but the nix on that though and I wound up with a POS rambler. |

Will anyone on site admit to having a 2CV or Reliant Robin? |
> 1 year ago |
I'd sooner cover myself in blood & then run naked past a pride of hungry lions LOL Oh no,have I put my foot in my mouth again? |
> 1 year ago |
I have only ever seen 2CV or Reliant Robin on UK TV, George Roper of George and Mildred comes to mind. Thankfully they never made the journey downunder lol |
> 1 year ago |
thanks for the info on that post padded..i was wondering if 2cv/reliant robin were models of cars...had never heard of either...but i live a sheltered life lol |
> 1 year ago |
@appara They are a three wheeled excuse for a car lol. One wheel in the front. http://pages.zoom.co.uk/elvis/reliant.html |
> 1 year ago |
Nagila Paddedbag Have you ever driven one? A proper Robin not the Regal as shown in Only Fools & Horses. I have and with only an 850cc engine they will do over 85mph. and the fuel economy is also v.good. Not an excuse for a car at all just an alternative. AHFA |
> 1 year ago |
KKKKKkkkkkkk Never heard about this car!!! Three wheels? Very funny! But the body had a design well advanced for the time, not think? Half square .... Hehehehehe |
> 1 year ago |
Indeed. It looks like it would be dangerous on curves at more than 30 mph. Also noticed (from the link) that the difference between the 1952 version and the 2001 version seemed to amount to a coat of paint to an even uglier color. But what do I know.. W~~~~ Vroom |
> 1 year ago |
nagila quark If I have offended with my excuse for a car comment I apologise. I have no doubt they were very economical to run as I said I have only seen them on UK TV and it was probably the regal that I saw. They look more like a motorbike with a body built on it to me and sorry but I can't help but be amused by their appearance. AHFA |
> 1 year ago |
Gosh is she ever nice; I thought they were funny as hell. However, after living in San Francisco for a year my definition of strange has drifted some. W~~~ |
> 1 year ago |
OK OK you want strange 2CV; Isetta single seater bubble; Mescherschmitt? 2 seater 3 wheels (1 at rear.) Those elongated monstrocities which need an airfield to turn around. Dormobiles with the hinged roof. and of course Kitt. (had to put that one in) |
> 1 year ago |
Nagila Paddedbag In the UK you only need a motorcycle driving licence for a Robin. It's Road Tax is substantially lower than other vehicles. And up to top speed it accelerates better than most other small cars (higher power to weight ratio) It's turning circle is 1:1 of its length. I've already mentioned the fuel economy. AHFA |
> 1 year ago |
@quark....ok i have to ask...what is road tax? would it be similar to our vehicle registration and insurance fees? (paid yearly)registration for license plate and insurance in case of an accident? |
> 1 year ago |
Old mazda 626 is what i have now... what i desire im not sure. I guess it depends on the day. where im going what im doing. If city driving who cares but i would like audi r8 for a nice country drive on winding road. |
> 1 year ago |
Just looked at the Reliant, it must be like driving a wheelbarrow. It seems to me a more stable configuration would be the single wheel in back. I guess if you have a bad crash it's small enough to double as your coffin. |
> 1 year ago |
Just looked at the Bond Bug, that's an even sweeter coffin. I would own and drive one if they could make it alternative fuel driven. |

@merlin The mustangs are nice but I guess I won't be getting that present anymore. It is such a short season for riding with the top down anyway.sigh:( |

A 2CV is not a three wheeler car. It has 4 wheels. It is a French Citroen car also called the Deux Chevaux - hence 2 CV. |
> 1 year ago |
Nagila Mekon Who said it was a three wheeler. I certainly did not. AHFA |
> 1 year ago |
I never said you did quark. I think you are getting a bit paranoid. AHFA |
> 1 year ago |
Nagila Mekon No I think not. My response was because else I could not understand why you felt it necessary to say the 2cv was not three wheeled. AHFA |
> 1 year ago |
Nagila Quark Enough already Look back on this thread and you'll not find me accusing you of saying that a 2CV is a three-wheeled car. AHFA |
> 1 year ago |
I just stated as a fact that a 2CV is not a 3-wheeled car. |
> 1 year ago |
@nip it was padded who thought a reliant robin and a 2cv were the same i.e. three wheelers (this was many many posts ago) @Quark i remember seeing an advert for the 2cv and thinking they sounded great 'top speed 75 but limit is 70' etc, clever advertising, though i went off them the first time i saw one in the flesh lol @mekon when i left school a friend had a reliant robin, we tried to hide but she insisted on giving us a lift home from town. Sat in the back with a newspaper open so no-one would see us lol. |
> 1 year ago |
@Windsor: LMMFAO. Cheers for the laugh, I needed it today. W~~~ |
> 1 year ago |
@windsorboyd - when I was in The RAF I had a friend who used to pick me up to take me back to my RAF station in a reliant robin. It was a 40 mile journey and it was uncomfortable but it got me back to my camp. |
> 1 year ago |
@Mekon: usually it didn't matter how we got back to base after a night out....as a matter of fact some nights it was a minor miracle. W~~~ |
> 1 year ago |
Nagila Mekon At that time it would have been a Reliant Regal. AHFA |
> 1 year ago |
Nagila quark I think it was called Reliant Robin. There was also the crap car called Messerschmitt and another one was The Bubble Car - which I think was a 3 wheeler but perhaps they made a 4 wheeled version as well - don't remember. |
