Hi!

I am curious. What kind of music do you like?
Do you have a mp3 player?

I have a very eclectic taste.

Mostly I like:

- MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) - It is not so Samba and Bossa Nossa as you if you think. Brazil rich, full of different kind of musica.

- Jazz in general
- classical music
- new age
- music from the 60th, 70th, 80th

I do not a specific mp3 player but I listen my musics in my smartphone. I want to buy a new sound system for my car and I want that it has a usb port or some way to play mp3. Any suggestion?

I agree entirely james, the type of music depends on your mood.

I like blues/rock for driving, smooth jazz for dining and I like to sing along to country music when I am doing housework, electronic and rock when I am partying and the list goes on.

Oooooh... difficult.
There's Pop music mostly, but also a great deal of German Rock (but not Rammstein!!! - sorry, it's just not my type -_-) and I have quite a collection of orchestral soundtracks. Then there's also jazz, classic, klezemer (I play in a klezmer band) and ocassionally even gothic rock... whatever fits the mood.
If I have time, I also write songs myself. ^^

It is difficult,I love or have loved every kind of music at one time or another.Growing up my parents were into country music,so this had an early influence on me.When I lived with my Nana, she had me interested in big band music which led me to take up the trombone and went on to jazz, blues and classical. When I turned 13yo.I got my first transistor radio AM/FM and started listening to Motown and rock music.I used to hide the radio under my pillow and listen into the night. That summer at a country fair I was hanging around the music stage and met the "Fifth Dimension" and they let me sing the song "Aquarius"with them on stage.
I like all music, with few exceptions.

50 cent is a rap artist sort of like Eminem, Snoop Dog or Kanye West. I like the mainstream rappers but it took me a few years to appreciate the sound.I liken it to the Beatles or Elvis when they first broke onto the music scene. Parents were very offended like I used to be with rap. I am a Mom of three after all!

I like a lot of music, especially acoustic so that voice and instruments are on the same level. Zappa from his most disgusting to his symphonies, the early psychadelic sounds, world music from Hawaiian to Celtic, Dylan's latest Calypso sound.

One problem this has made is that my son who is an excellent young guitar player want a sound of his own. He listens to Bucket Head. It took a while for him to find something I don't really care for. Ha Ha

When I was a teen ager in the 1970's there was an old lady I would help out all I could. One day after mowing her lawn when she tried to pay me and I refused, she pointed to a garage full of junk and said to take my pick. I dug around a minute not expecting to find anything when I ran across a more of less functioning gramophone (edison made these; basically wax cylinders (it had 10 in the box), a needle and a tin horn for an amp). I took it home, wired in some AC power and the thing actually worked. I heard some voices of folks long dead discussing the matters of the day. I did a test recording on one of the spare rolls and it worked too.

The next year I joined the army and came home to find that mom had thrown it in the trash thinking it was junk. Sigh.

Oops! Had the name wrong. It was this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phonograph_cylinder

To quote:

The earliest method of recording and reproducing sound was on phonograph cylinders. Commonly known simply as "records" in their era of greatest popularity (c. 1888%u20131915), these cylinder shaped objects had an audio recording engraved on the outside surface which could be reproduced when the cylinder was played on a mechanical phonograph.

Part way down the page is a picture of the thing I had.
