Your idol / hero-heroine / or personality? They can be living or dead. Who would it be? And it would be good if you could tell us why. Mine, I think, would be Leonardo da Vinci - he was into everything and, obviously, a genius. |

I would like to have dinner with Mark Twain.I could imagine the after dinner conversation with brandy and a cigar would be great.I would love to trade stories with him.Could you imagine what he would have to say about our lives today. |

Barbara Walters. To chat with her would be a blast as she has interviewed so many interesting people. I think a dinner with her would be the ultimate!(Dinner with Mekon would come in a close second as I do enjoy a lot of those comments as well) |

@nogds9 i'll come to dinner with you and mark twain and bring Oscar Wilde, he is said to have had a beautiful speaking voice we could listened to his thoughts on modern society, I'm sure he would appreciate our more liberal laws, (makes you very sad at the thought of his fate though) |
||

@windsorboyd, There you go with your ESP,how did you know Oscar Wilde was my second choice.Indeed a man born in the wrong century. |

@appara - I'm afraid I've never heard of Barbara Walters - Is she your equivalent to our Michael Parkinson? (perhaps you've never heard of him?). Also, appara, you are too kind. |

I would love to have dinner with Captain James Cook - a brave and intelligent explorer. I'm sure we two captains would have a wonderful evenings conversation. @quark - nagila - what is wrong with my 'attitudes'? I have taken note of your concerns and kept my head down for the past few weeks. I am really a pussycat who likes to stir things occasionally. I have been busy with work recently and my friend mekon tells me he's just got back from Venus where he's been inspecting his troops. Between you and me I think he's an admirer of George Bush! AHFA |

@nog and windsor Can I join you both with Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde, what an evening that would be. And can I please duck off for a late supper with Richard Gere as he was 25 years ago in American Gigilo...sigh? |

Nagila Jean-Luc nice to hear from you directly again. That was the intent of my post no offense meant by it I assure you. Tell me why is it Mekon has you making his innuendo threats for him? is it because you both have the same Humaan alter ego name or something? BTW I understand your Grand Nagus Rom has asked Odo to become his chief of security for the whole Ferengi Alliance on Ferenghinar and beyond. That will be nice will it not? |
||
11 months ago |
Nagila Uncle, Perhaps the Mekon has reactivated some of Picards Borg implants and using him to undermine your status as Grand Nagus of the Ferengi Alliance on Earth. Cut off the head,the body soon follows. The Mekon can not do much for himself being he's only a brain in a levitating chair. I will ask Father to call for Odo to investigate. The Mekon would be wise to keep the his Treen where they are. AHFA/AHGBG |

@paddedbag you are more than welcome but if you're having richard gere for supper can i have sayid from lost?, but i don't want to share and how will we explain it to mark twain and oscar wilde (although i'm sure oscar would understand lol) |
||

Nagila Quark & Nogds9 Me and Picard are cyber-friends. Picard and Odo have parted company so there is no threat to any Ferengi. My Treen warriors are based on Venus and will not be used for 'liberation' or 'shock & awe' tactics. I have a piece of paper stating that I am member of The Ferengi Alliance. AHFA |

I know this may be a little obscure but I would love to have a burger and a beer with Robert Johnson. Maybe that is a whiskey. It would be impossible to completely explain why here (wikipedia is your friend) but he is considered to be one of the greatest bluesmen of all time. W~~~ |
||

Just 'Me and Mr. Johnson' huh whip, that's another meeting I would love to gatecrash. |
||

@PB: Yeah but I would not embarrass myself by trying to play with him. The trick would be to make it a "working" dinner for Robert ;) Hey can we bring a video camera to this thing? W~~~ |
||

@whip, I like your idea with Philip K. Dick. He was quite the surrealist in my memory.To bad he died so young. |
||
11 months ago |
@mekon, Rest assured you are a honorary member of the Alliance,but be warned Father and I will not tolerate an insurrection.I am keeping my vamped up Bird of Prey and crew close to Venus and have sensors on full.lof AHFA and the saga continues |

Nagila Mekon Indeed you are an Hon.Member of the Ferengi Alliance by the grace of Grand Nagus Quark. (that's me for anyone else) Please ask Picard to refrain from slighting you in my eyes by making those veiled threats then he too may remain a Member. Be aware that in this time-line Ferengi are all Powerful in comparison to all but the citizens of Gallifrey with whom we have a mutual defense treaty. Whilst you may believe that Ferengi are duplicitous there are none more honorable than the Lords of Time whose word is their bond. All Hail the Ferengi Alliance. |

@ NIP Nagila would all please return to the theme of this thread Dinner etc as Mekon created it. I chastise myself in this post as well. |

I thought all Ferengi knew that Philip K Dick, in addition to being certifiable in real life, was personally responsible for some of the best scifi in years. He wrote the stories that resulted in Minority Report, Blade Runner, A Scanner Darkly, Paycheck, Next, Total Recall, Imposter and Screamers...but he was a seriously disturbed dude from what I hear.... W~~~ |
||
11 months ago |
@Whip I too like his stories The World Jones Made; The Man in the High Castle; and the Ganymede Takeover are some of his titles I have. But in Sci-Fi none will surpass the Master himself Isaac Asimov. The Professor would, I am sure, be a wonderful person to dine with. I would love to hear him speak of his beloved Robots. If only mankind had something similar to the 3 Laws that none could break. |
||
11 months ago |
@Quark: No argument at all; as a matter of fact the Asimov on the shelf outweighs the PKD by two to one. The thing is, with PKD you have lots of isolated weird little concepts whereas with Mr. Asimov you have grand sweeping ideas and there is no way a single meal could suffice. Asimov would require meeting on a cruise or some other longer term situation. Just my humble opinion. I mean, I could ask him about Hari Seldon for days. W~~~ |
