@gedman 100% in agreement Soccer as our US cousins call it is by far the best, as are Manchester United. Glory, glory the Reds go marching on! on! on! |

@mrsjerry Ah ha it's the millionaires you're after is it? Come see my great big pile of Gold Pressed Latinum!!! |
12 months ago |
@mrsjerry...how absolutely right you are! so i won't spoil it by naming the best team! lol |
12 months ago |
@quark Oh no, I'm not after any millionares. I am intrigued by the sound of a great big pile of gold pressed latinum though. |
12 months ago |
I am sure mrsjerry is not impressed with the size of the pile of gold quark. We all know size doesn't matter, don't we ; |
12 months ago |
@paddedbag It is more important how you use it!lol |
12 months ago |
@paddedbag When it's a great big pile of gold pressed latinum it does. and Mrsjerry did say she was intrigued by the sound of it. Well it goes clink clink clink when the bars are knocked together! |
12 months ago |
@quark I would only need a slip of latinum as my needs are but few.lol |
12 months ago |
@padded and mrsjerry You guys crack me up! Go Oilers Go! |
12 months ago |
Oh no! I try to avoid the sound of clink clink and bars, thats how I have got into trouble before |
12 months ago |
@padded Ferengee he is but probably overstated in the latinum department! Your safe downunder! Its all about ears & brows. |
12 months ago |
@fozzybear 5pm the battle is on! @quark I read somewhere that you can store the silver liquid form of latinum in your stomach. Do you get heartburn? |
12 months ago |
@fozzybear But you know what they say about a man with big ears don't you? @quark I fear I may be due a spanking for taking this thread off topic and in my defense I have to point out I was talking about your wrestling prowess in case you didn't pick that up. |
12 months ago |
@appara I meant to say Go Oilers! before but fozzy said it for me. I hope that didn't spoil anything. |

It is the game for women who like to perv...err I mean admire the masculine skills. |
12 months ago |
thats all right if you like fairy's LOL |
12 months ago |
You have your codes mixed up romeo, there are no fairies in league they all play that aerial ping pong you follow. |
12 months ago |
yeah good one |
@NIP Now now children let's all agree to disagree. Each version of 'football' has its good and bad points. Whichever you favour, I'll bet you know of at least one way you think it can be improved. |
12 months ago |
So true quark and I just read my last comment, I hope romeo knew I had my tongue in cheek when I said it. I think he would have because he has a good sense of humour. If not romeo I apologise, I know its not your fault you follow AFL, you just don't know any better ;P |
12 months ago |
yeah all fun in love and war LOL |
@padded Tell me about what they say about men with big ears! I'm afraid blairf will change his avatar depending on what you say! |
12 months ago |
Anyone who reads Kurt Vonnegut would say for certain German Batball is the greatest. |
12 months ago |
@fozzy Same thing they say about a man with big feet or a big nose. and if they have all three..... well thats one ugly looking dude. |
12 months ago |
@singlew4 Never heard of it! any chance of a quick run down on it? @paddedbag Forget all the other signs big ears and hairless skull are the true ones. I know! |
12 months ago |
I will have to ask Kurt Vonnegut when I see him again. It was mentioned in the book Sirens of Titan. The ball is like an under inflated soccer ball and I mightbe wrong about this but the rules are similar to Cricket. BTW What's Rugby? |
12 months ago |
yeah what is rugby LOL |
Greco-Roman wrestling |

@NIP Rugby is a town in the UK. |
@quark Have you seen any of the Ultimate Fighting It beats the heck out of boxing K1, UFC, Bodog, MMA. |
12 months ago |
Rugby is played at a fast pace, with few stoppages and continuous possession changes. All players on the field, regardless of position, must be able to run, pass, kick and catch the ball. Likewise, All players must also be able to tackle and defend, making each position both offensive and defensive in nature. There is no blocking of the opponents like in football, and there are only five substitutions per game allowed for each team. A rugby match consists of two 40-minute halves. Finally, rugby is considered to be a gender equity sport as approximately 25% of all players in the United States are female. |
12 months ago |
You talk of rugby union I believe singlew4? I follow rugby league, but union is also enjoyable. |

@fozzybear et al I prefer the gentlemanly Martial Arts of Japan and other Eastern Countries like Karatedo, Judo, & Aikedo. may you never suffer/be on the receiving end of (phonetically for the non Japanese amongst you.) 'Hoodi aziggy ju ji katamee' |

Extreme elimination challenge, that's right Kenny! |
12 months ago |
@quark I didn't realize ferengi were so adept in Japanese! @naplam I downloaded UFC 81 it was pretty spectacular fighting The K1, Bodog and MMA fights are impressive. |
12 months ago |
I find UFC a little brutal with allthose elbows & knees, give me the graceful art of boxing anytime. Before everyone jumps on me I know boxing has it's elbows, not to mention ear biting etc...unfortunately most sports have cheats. |
12 months ago |
@fozzybear Ferengi is spelt with a capital F please. The Ferengi Language is closer to Japanese than it is to English. |
12 months ago |
i must say i am very surprised that with all the aussies posting on here there is no mention of 'propelling persons of small stature'? |
12 months ago |
*gasp* as if an aussie would be so politically incorrect! |
12 months ago |
@appara You were so politically correct that I for one didn't understand you. |
12 months ago |
as appara seems to have gone to bed I will answer for him, I think he was referring to the 'sport?' of dwarf tossing. |

ah....but now the question is...did you actually leave the beach long enough to make it to the games room? read somewhere about an all-over tan? lol |
12 months ago |
oops...lol dont go there...i hear the distant sirens of the morality police again! |
12 months ago |
I for one and probably only one like Lacrosse,an ancient game once played by the No. American native peoples. It is now a major sport event in the U.S. Once used to settle disputes between tribes and as an alternative to war.The playing field was up to 15 miles long and they played it rough and for keeps.Often the losers would have to give up family members and land as tribute. |
12 months ago |
@quark I saw Manchester United draw first blood today, I didn't catch the rest of the game what was the score? |
12 months ago |
@fozzybear United 4 Arsenal 0 Rooney Fletcher Nani & Fletcher again. Talk about a master-class in attacking, could easily have been 8 or 9 but for their goalkeeper. Van der Saar didn't have to get his kit dirty at all!! |
12 months ago |
@quark The first goal was amazing off a kick from left field and two headers into the net. It was a sight, they made it look easy but it was anything but easy! Arsenal didn't have one (an Arsenal) yesterday! Thanks for the update! |
11 months ago |
Quark shows his true colours - not a mention of the best sport in the world, namely, flat-green bowling. |

bedroom games by far are the best sport then comes the rest |

Nagila Mekon I have never made a secret of the fact that I prefer football to bowls as a spectator. As a participant yes of course Bowls. Let us face it. It is the only sport, besides darts and snooker, that I am capable of these days. Mind you the Cap'n has a good point. AHFA |
11 months ago |
Nagila Quark - yes, the Captain does have a good point, so I've heard! I, of course, am a rambler/walker and really enjoy the countryside. How come you support Man. U? Did you ever live there? AHFA |
11 months ago |
Nagila Mekon Please do not refer to them by that abbreviation it was part of an insult by Bolton Wanderers fans at the time of the Munich disaster. You know full well my medical problems and thus why I cannot walk like I used to. Your final questions are irrelevant. I have supported them for just over 50 years now through the bad as well as the good times. The length of time should tell you why I support them. I refer you to sharetv.org/forum/chat/Q_104878 You don't have to be a Mancunian to have an affinity with the team. AHFA |

Nagila Quark Well I am a Manchester United fan have the hat to prove it! GREAT team! AHFA |

@fozzybear I too have a bobble type hat and a cape (well two actually) Nagila Romeo53 No it is a best sports thread as you created it. And as football is the greatest worldwide sport and the most supported it must by those definitions take up the most postings. Gotcha. LOL. AHFA AHFA |
11 months ago |
Nagila quark It's a pity you can't give your support to a Yorkshire team - but if you have supported Manchester United for just over 50 years then it must be genuine. It also means you must be quite elderly!! lol AHFA |
11 months ago |
Nagila Mekon Ferengi do indeed have a long lifespan when compared to humaans. AHFA |
11 months ago |
@mekon Sports and the Yorkshire people "Passionate" for sure! It appears there is more to it than just sports! |
11 months ago |
@fozzy Yorkshiremen refer to it as 'Gods own County' or 'Gods own Country' Yes they are passionate about their sports. That is one reason I like living here, but support a Yorkshire based football team No Thanks Mekon. |
11 months ago |
@mekon I guess you can't change @quarks mind on this one! Sports teams are like that in North America. When I was growing up it was hockey. I was a Bobby Orr fan Boston Bruins, I got a little older Montreal Guy LaFleur and soforth. There are more sports to follow now but Manchester United is a great team to support! |
