In my opinion, some of the best game out there have sequels. Kingdom Hearts series Legend of Zelda series Super Mario series Final Fantasy series Halo series I'm going to get flamed for this one: DragonBall Z Budokai: Tenkaichi series Need for speed series Metroid prime series Battlefield series And a couple of others But there are other games that don't have sequels that match up, examples: Crysis (Awesome) World of Warcraft (not really a game with a sequel) Counter-Strike: Source What are your opinions? |
Nov 14, 2007 1:11PM |
Command and Conquer from the beginning. Medal of Honor. Even AoE Great. |
Nov 14, 2007 1:12PM |
Have to go with... in no particular order... Zelda Mario Final Fantasy Halo and classic *winces* Tekken :P And I have to mention, though it doesn't have a sequel that i'm aware of... Bioshock Totally stoked about Mass Effect too... come on money... |
Nov 14, 2007 1:14PM |
The best games are the ones that change the way games play. Elite, Doom, Civilization II, Ultima Online, Battlefield 1942 (Desert Combat Mod), Dawn Of War, Portal. |
Nov 14, 2007 1:14PM |
Yep Bioshock definetly a great game. I like your game styles :D |
Nov 14, 2007 1:15PM |
They are re-making Final Fantasy VII on the PS3. Halo 3 is the best sequel. |
Nov 14, 2007 1:16PM |
@hax0rzd Haha, <3 :D I remember the first time i played it and saw the big daddy walking in one of the tunnels next to me, haha *oh crap oh crap* ^.^ |
Nov 14, 2007 1:17PM |
@lilyth Lol :D I'm interested to know...which is your best zelda and final fantasy game? |
Nov 14, 2007 1:25PM |
@hax0rzd at this point, I'd have to go with... for final fantasy, it's gotta be VII, though 10/10-2 isn't bad Zelda...that one's tough, I have to give love to the first zelda game, because it's probably the first game i ever played... |
Nov 14, 2007 1:27PM |
Yea, same here VII rules, 10/10-2 is hard to compare, since its in another league of its own. Zelda games I think are great are Nintendo 64: Ocarina of Time Nintendo Wii: Twilight Princess NDS: Phantom Hourglass |
Nov 14, 2007 1:28PM |
oh i forgot Gamecube: Windwaker |
Nov 14, 2007 1:29PM |
haha, Windwaker was great, i haven't had a chance to play Twilight Princess yet though :( |
Nov 14, 2007 1:30PM |
It's awesome, with the creativeness of the Wii controller, you can't miss it. |
Nov 14, 2007 1:32PM |
^.^ it's definitely on my to do list |
Nov 14, 2007 1:40PM |
I like the old games all time favorite Zork |
Nov 14, 2007 1:53PM |
@ygagnon1024 I can see why :D It was those classic retro games that fueled todays developers to create the wonders they do. |
Nov 14, 2007 2:36PM |
I had the massive honor of meeting Mathew Smith, the creator of Jet Set Willy last week. I love the random people I talk to at the pub. |
Nov 14, 2007 4:53PM |
@hax0rzd Yeah alot of game developers grew up on the clasics alot like music, I still play my atari 2600 on a regular basis now how is that for a flash back |

Nov 14, 2007 5:02PM |
Any and ALL mario games Same For Final Fantasy Starcraft Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 SIM City |

Nov 14, 2007 5:07PM |
Mario Bros. Final Fantasy VII Oblivion,The Elder Scrolls Wipeout most anything RPG |
Nov 14, 2007 6:32PM |
Duke Nukem, Doom3, Return to Wolfenstein, QuakeX (1-4). And now to show my age though: Zork 1-3. These made you think and use your imagination. Arguably not going to make much use of that water-cooled video card but then again, my imagination (and whatever controlled substances were available) made for one hell of a great game. |
Nov 14, 2007 8:34PM |
painkiller (beat doom 3 for game of the year), devil may cry, soul reaver, oblivion, resistance, half life 2 |
Nov 14, 2007 9:04PM |
I have halo 3 aint a bad game but they over sell it! well thats my opinion because the added new places and a couple of new vehicles and teak the graphics and apperences a bit. But a good game nonetheless. I always been a fan of the PS2 adventure game Jak 1,2,3 and Jakx And loves all the Battle Field Games. Dont have a fav games because they keep toping it. |
Nov 14, 2007 9:24PM |

Nov 16, 2007 7:18AM |
I haven't played many games in over a decade, so anything coming out after that is way past my knowledge. So with that caveat: Super Mario Bros & Super Mario World. Legend of Zelda Tecmobowl (doesn't stand the test of time, but really kick started the genre) Street Fighter series - classic fighting game, some will prefer Mortal Kombat. The Street fighter games are my favorite of all time. I still play them on my Super nintendo emulator every once in a blue moon. I noticed early on my propensity to get addicted to games (They are too good now) so I just stay away. You've got to know your weaknesses. |
Nov 16, 2007 7:21AM |

Nov 17, 2007 8:16PM |
i am hoping to get YOU 2 stop spamming, oh starcraft and starcraft blood war |
Nov 18, 2007 2:46AM |
@ryan: Yes, it was. It's so sad that the company went bankrupt... I always dreamed of a sequel and never found anything that could keep me awake the night just like that. Do you know any games comparable? |
Nov 18, 2007 5:45AM |
no starcraft fans here ? |
Nov 18, 2007 10:56AM |
For those who like zelda and mario, I recommend Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. In particular FF VII and all KH sequels. For PS3 owners you are in luck. FF VII came out on the PS1, but to my knowledge Square Enix are re-designing the game for the PS3. There are videos on youtube. |
Nov 21, 2007 8:44AM |
FFVII all the way, they made crisis core for pp which is being dubbed for 08 and is the 4th FFVII installment all in all, Square are vusy on the PS3 version as you say and hopefully it goes a lil furthen than the Zack, Nibleheim spin off too. @jameshowson :Starcraft was amazing, all the westwood games too (C&C) I WONDER IF ANYONE MANAGED TO DRESS CLOUD AS THE RIGHT KINDA WOMAN TO GET INTO DIO'S CLUB IN SECTOR 7G (DISC 1) I SAW A HOMO-EROTIC SCENE OF HIM WHERE HE GOT INTO A JACUZZI AND THE LIGHTS WENT OUT WHEN A BUNCH OF GUYS JOINED HIM IN THERE WITH LITTLE PINK THONGS ON, THIS IS NO WORD OF A LIE BUT I CAN FIND NO REFERENCE TO IT ANYWHERE. THIS WAS AGES AGO BUT IT'S THE BIT WHERE YOU HAVE TO PUT ON A WIG AND A DRESS AND WHEN YOU GET IN PICK 1 OF 10 DOORS, I PICKED DOOR 1 TO SEE THAT AND HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET IN SINCE, REPLAYING THIS ON MY PSP NOW AND IT'S AMAZING THANK GOD FOR POPSLOADER |
Nov 21, 2007 8:46AM |
@jameshowson I loved starcraft spent many an hour blowing up aliens |
Nov 21, 2007 1:05PM |

@devaasha Ooh yeah poing, tried it again emulated on pc a couple of years ago. Then there was Eye of the Beholder and of course Megalomania if anyone remember those. |

@harryheck I saw it in emulation as well. Might even still have it on my computer (nope...sigh), but it was way too fast compared to the Amiga version and wound up being more frustrating than fun. Do you remember Obliterater? |
11 months ago |
@devaasha That's sometimes the trouble with older games the makers never allowed for the massive increase in computer speeds we have today and so many are now unplayable. |

I have a Commodore Vic-20 in my loft. I used to write programmes, in Basic, and still have some on cassette tapes. @curious - Yep, I also like Monopoly but Chess must be the best game ever. |
10 months ago |
@curiousandroid, I had a Monopoly game (on the Amiga) that cheated. It wouldn't allow you to make any "deals" with other players (real or computer) but it made deals between itself. Not fair! |

Have you ever heard of Solar Quest,a board game played much like monopoly. You travel around the Solar system buying up the moons and space docks around the planets. You also use fuel as you travel the board,so you have to keep this dynamic in mind lest ye be stranded. There are consequence cards should you roll doubles and you may attack other ships with your lasers. Like in Monopoly you hope to own all the moons around any planet because the rent become higher. And if you improve your moon with a fueling station you can sell fuel to your opponents. The game came out in 1986,loads of fun. |
