Hi, I want to add friends to my profile but don't know how. Do they have to be already registered on this site or, as I would like can I invite friends who haven't yet discovered this site to join me? Help!!!! |

Yes, to add friends they have to be registered on this site, and if they are not, you can invite them to join. Also you can add some of registered users and then offer them to add you back (because if you add someone as your friend, that doesnt automatically add you as theirs, they have to add you on their own.). |

I've tried to add a few friends to my page (on invitation) but they don't seem to be adding. I just discovered the Guest Book and am a bit confused. Thanks. |

Sorry to bother again.. but I've checked the pages of people who said they'd added me and I'm not there either. Is there some problem with my account? |

@devaasha, You are not doing anything wrong. Appears that there is a error in your page. I did choose to add you as a friend and the status bar of the IE said "error on the page". Some Mod can help her please! She really has a problem in her page. |

This is something Chris will have to troubleshoot, I just posted the problem (and the link here) in his guest book. Anyone else having the same problem as Devaasha, please post here... Thanks |

Just added you as a friend (hope you don't mind!) That worked ok, but devaasha does seem to have a problem on the page. What if devaasha re-registers, would that solve the problem? |

Oops! I seem to be having the problem registering friends now. I've tried a few at random and nothing happens! |

When you add friends, are they supposed to be automatically added? No need for them to accept, right? If so, I'm apparently having the same problem. I've tried adding various people, but nothing happens. Help? |

It was on the Administrator's to-do list to add a "Friend requests system" so I think that is being implemented right now... I'm sure that Chris will post soon as to progress / glitches... Here's a look at what he's working on: sharetv.org/to-do |

@midnightmuse To experiment I just tried to add you and was unable to do so. So Kolbinfo is probably correct in her response to you. May I suggest that you only add those as friends with whom you have had dealings and who are happy to be your friend. You wouldn't approach somebody on the street you did not know and say you are my friend. This is why the friends request system is being implemented on this site. Please do not be put off there are many opportunities to get to know people in the forums and see what type of person they are. |

Thanks kolbinfo and quark for your responses. Hopefully the problem will be fixed soon. @quark On any other websites I use that have a "friends" system, I look at other members' profiles and if it seems like we have stuff in common, I will send a message and add them. I don't just add random people simply to make my friend count higher. Maybe it's different here though... If it's customary that members have a conversation beforehand, I will go along with that. Thanks for the info. :) |

sorry for the delay. Will check why its not working today. And yes I am working on the Adding Friends setup. New features will be: %u2022 Adding message with friend request %u2022 Ability to confirm request %u2022 Limit per day as this has been abused |

This will definitely be a good feature IMHO. One other thing it will do is to stop those adding you as a friend when you do not consider them a friend but their profile will say you are. Case in point killerqueen added me as a friend and other than the welcome message we had not spoken Not only that he/she added at least 7 members who have not been active on the site for months. It appears that they added the first 46 members as ranked by points. This is the kind of craziness this site can well do without. |

Afterthought Chris will the new system allow a member to break off a friendship at both ends so to speak? In other words if I do not have member as a friend then they cannot have me as a friend? |

@quark, yes I plan to make it similar to other community sites like myspace. user has to send you a friend request and you have the option to confirm/deny. At first I didn't want to do this as I thought it might cause confrontation, however after seeing all the abuse like starting at the top and adding everyone as friends, it seems to be a necessity. also, sorry in my last message about the weird codes. those were supposed to be bullet points. sent the post from my phone |
